Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island

Amazing resort!! We had reserved a condo and when we arrived it was awful. I needed to find a place but it was nearly midnight. Sonesta found us a spot and made sure we had a good room. Highly recommended

Highly recommend. Awesome pet welcoming resort! Beautiful hotel with outstanding grounds that are a treat to stroll through as you go to the beach. Beach is wide and calm in that area. The resort has bathrooms and a nice area to hose off your dog with warm water at one of the beach entrances. Grounds are beautifully done with fire pits, hammocks, games, pavilions and a great beach entry pool with a large shallow area that my 2 & 4 year old grandkids loved. Had a large bin of pool toys that we really appreciated. Dogs and their people were very welcome. The rooms were really nice with a door outside ...super for a quick middle of the night potty break with a human in bathrobe. Poolside food was VERY good. Comfortable beds.

Beautiful resort but not worth the $$$ Upon check in, I didn’t notice much difference in rooms since the renovations. The brand new fire pits “weren't working” in October _ The family pool is still the same as well. The adult pool is nice but we saw many families sending their kids to the family pool (unattended) to enjoy adult time. We have kids and don’t think this is appropriate. I felt like I was babysitting other kids at points. Our kids enjoyed the family pool and the designated time in the adult area (6-9pm); however, it’d be nice to have some family time in the updated pool area in the morning as well. We got married at this Sonesta 10 years ago and came here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. I made note of this in the reservation. We were given the bottom of the barrel room with nothing included…no strawberries or bubbly as they used to do for our anniversary. With our loyalty status, a room upgrade is included with each stay. Really disappointing. (See picture of our view of roof from the room.) After mentioning to manager, we were told there are no other rooms available. I had a very hard time believing this since we’re visiting in off season of October. Also, there were no sheets/bedding for the sofa bed. I had to ask for something to be done for our anniversary 4 times and finally we got strawberries and very cheap bubbly on our last day. Sonesta is apparently not loyal to their long-term customers… we will be trying Omni or Westin next time! Also, fitness center was closed our entire trip, which is why we pay $40 for resort fee. Lastly, we used to have gold status and were told we’re silver status now which means no breakfast. Management said sometimes people are downgraded after using points. I have never heard of such a “loyalty” program in my life. We enjoyed the heated pool and quiet rooms but not enough to keep this as our #1 stay in hh.

Grand Resort Massive resort with plenty of dining amenities including pool side dining. Our room was fairly modern. We had a great experience. Our only issue was check-in. There was an issue with one of our rooms and the front desk staff was not helpful and didn't seem to care at all.
