Unbelievable experience in Houston Unfortunately, nothing good or positive to say about OYO Hotel in Houston. Traveled from Washington to attend the college football championship game. Made a non-refundable reservation while on the road. Arrived about 20 mins prior to 3:00pm check-in time. We were told our room would not be ready until 3:00pm as stated on the reservation. Reservation included free parking. We asked the hotel clerk if we could park our car and we would just walk to the stadium and would return 9 - 10 pm. The clerk said that would be fine. We arrived back at the hotel shortly before 10 pm, we were told, oh your room is not ready. Ummm, I asked how long. The hotel clerk said another 15 mins. please have a seat in the lobby. Have a cup of coffee. I went to get a cup of coffee and was absolutely disgusted by the filthy room where a coffee pot that appeared to never have been washed probably since it had been purchased was sitting. The table the pot was sitting on, was covered in ants crawling all over the place. I am 66 years old and in all my years of traveling, I have never been in a more disgusting, filthy place. It is beyond me how this hotel is able to run. After waiting 15 mins, I walked up to the counter again and was told our room was still not ready and they did not know when it would be. It was then my husband and I talked and decided we would not be staying there. It was so creepy....we told the clerk we would not be staying and he proceeded to freak out. Yelling at us and telling us to get off his property etc. It was truly unbelievable!! He ordered us to pay $30 for parking at his hotel or he would call the police. Because the clerk was freaking out, we did not know what he might do so my 71 yr old husband gave him $30 cash and we left. I filed a dispute with my credit card company once we returned home Jan. 2024. The hotel would not own up to their obligation. My dispute was of course denied by OYO Hotel. Thanks to my credit card company, they resolved my dispute themselves. This hotel is located near the NRG stadium. Very bad part of town. Being out of staters, we did not know this. I would highly recommend not staying at this hotel. I will also be reporting OYO Hotel to the BBB.

Stay away We were all booked for Houston Stock Show Mths in advance. We drove from Dallas when we got to Houston we were told they canceled our reservation mind you we made it mths in advance we were told they were out of rooms. I was not to mad to be honest because when we pulled in there was a ton of meth and crackheads walking around. It was run down so I can assure you it’s not the rooms in the pics. Don’t stay here either you get robbed or catch something you can’t wash off with gasoline.

They claim to be a 3 star hotel _They’re NOT! Hotwire.com hides the name of this property in their search as a “hot rate” 3 star property. In fact it’s anything but! Trust me when I tell you this. The rating for this place should be below sub zero & that might be too high. As a Houston resident familiar with the hotel, it’s amenities are not up to snuff to compare with a 3 star hotel. The owner Mohammed will not answer his phone to discuss refunding your money once the scam is revealed to you nor will Hotwire cooperate. On top of that they want a $100 deposit. (What in the place is $100 bucks? Places like this scam people forcing the visiting out of towers to stay or lose their $50-60 bucks (which is the only way they can make money). The people who do enjoy it there are the drug dealers & pimps who can turn tricks. They have occupancy challenges bc of their history and the delapedation of the place. Do yourself a favor and go to the Candlewood Suites behind it or Residence Inn nearby. A 3 star hotel....yeah right _

The most disgusting hotel I’ve ever been to This was by far the most disgusting and unsafe hotel experience I’ve ever had in my life. The hotel locks the door at 7:00 p.m. for, “the safety of the staff.” To be clear, the sun isn’t even set at that time... the room I was initially given was, gross, and obviously uncleared. I complained, and was give a room that was supposedly “clean,” yet had mysterious stains on the ground resembling blood. The neighborhood felt very unsafe. Multiple men walking around taking on their phones trying to find someone who was checked in... the outside area was dirty, unkept and old. I would absolutely never stay here. This place IS NOT SAFE for families or otherwise. Absolutely disgusting. On top of it all, they required a $100 security deposit... do not stay here, it is NOT worth it, even if it was free.

Advertised price + $100 People who find this hotel are looking for a place to stay on a budget. In response to that need, this hotel advertises and charges a $35 to $40 non-refundable nightly rate. Then they charge an unadvertised $100 deposit. If you’re looking for a $37 a night room, you most likely don’t have $137 to spend on a room tonight. So you spend your last $37 on a non-refundable booking, and then OYO demands $100 when you arrive to check in. So they get your $37 without having to rent a room to you. NOTE. If you booked through Expedia, my experience is that they will do whatever it takes to get you into a room. To give OYO one star is to imply that they deserve at least some comparison to other hotels. They are far beneath that.
