Great family hotel experience but pool staff were rude I stayed at the Westin Chicago Northwest with my family of 5 for a long weekend in March 2025. We had a double queen junior suite which was the perfect size for me, my wife, and our 3 kids. I selected this hotel because I needed room for a family of 5 and wanted a hotel with a pool and close to a Metra station. The hotel was nice, service was great and the pool was cool. I have two gripes: the staff at the pool were rude and the coffee was not complimentary. The pool staff claimed they were not affiliated with the hotel and treated the guests with contempt. The pool ran out of towels and the pool staff expected me to find my own towels. I went back to my room and grabbed my own towels (which I was told not to do by the front desk staff), but then another guest at the pool took my towels! The room did have a sad coffee maker, and their was coffee available at the lobby marketplace, but the coffee was not very good and I feel like complimentary coffee is a small convenience that would have elevated the experience.

If you like sleeping, don't go here If you are looking for a good night's sleep, do not go here. If you are looking for a raging party and a place that prevents you from drinking and driving, this is your spot. Our family stayed the night here to get away from the fireworks that are set off in the park near our house until about 4am (Independence Day). Our only requirements were a quiet place and a pool. We chose this place because it was in a business area near the airport. The way the hotel is structured is a lobby on the ground floor, with a glass ceiling all the way up so that each floor is exposed. Because of this, if there are people in the lobby talking, laughing, and yelling, you will hear it in your room, even with your door closed and pillows shoved in the gap under the door. And not just a hum of background noise, but full conversations, like a festival is going on around you. The space echoes like crazy. So if the bar stays open past midnight, then so do you. You would think that the hotel would understand the dynamics of their space and put some type of soundproofing around the doors or close the bar at a reasonable hour so as not to disturb all guests trying to sleep, but no. When I called the front desk at 12:30am to ask when the party was set to end, the only response I got was, "It's 4th of July." Perfectly acceptable if you are a hotel with a separate bar or have closed in a lobby. Even then, when is it acceptable to allow grown adults to yell at each other frequently. The party started to die down around 1:30am. On their site they list live music on Wednesdays, so I don't believe this to be a one-night only issue. I cannot imagine the bounce live music would create in that space. Besides the very important issue of sleeping, the hotel was nice. The rooms were clean and well-taken care of. We did arrive to a mosquito and a spider in our room though. We left the spider alone and killed the mosquito. The pool was spacious and had a good amount of depths to engage in different styles of swimming, with a special lap area roped off. There was a nice, deep hot tub. The Park Bistro had great tasting food. Service was ok. They weren't that busy, but it did take the waiter a while to get back to us. Our daughter never got the glass of water we requested. Food came out fast & delicious. Hotel staff was ok. Not exactly friendly, but not rude either. There was a wedding and a sports group there, so I'm sure they had their hands full. We likely will not be going back because above all, the main function of a hotel is sleep and that cannot be had there.

Old rusty iron ruined my shirt Just checked into the hotel and was getting ready for a dinner gathering. I needed to iron my white shirt, but unfortunately, the old iron in the room ruined it. The steam holes were full of rust, and the steam caused it to seep out and stain my shirt. It’s frustrating that a basic amenity like an iron isn’t maintained. For the cost of about $10 per room, the hotel could replace these or at least clean them regularly. Guests shouldn’t have to deal with ruined clothing because of poor upkeep. I

Horrible Awful! It’s been 8years since I’ve stayed at this hotel and now I remember why i wouldn’t stay there before. The heat in the room was stifling and no way to adjust.. and during a 5 night stay I had hot water only 1 of those days (none ever in the sink, shower only 1 day). I will definitely be finding another hotel to stay in.

Misleading From the beginning of the stay, I reserved a two bedroom, 1150 sq.ft King Suite. “Newly Renovated”, is what my Bonvoy app said, it was not. I was woken up by sawing, hammering, and stapling from the ceiling as they were currently under construction. The suites have not been renovated. I try to shower, the water won’t even get hot. After that, I just wanted some breakfast so I tried ordering room service and it didn’t work, they apologized for that too. Not to mention, the staff at The Westin hotels are known for their EXCEPTIONAL service, the staff and service members were not helpful and quite rude. I have to give the front desk woman credit, (Tianna)? She was the only one that tried to accommodate although moving us to a lower, guest room, was unacceptable. She was the only one that gave the BONVOY experience. This has been the worst The Westin Hotel experience, I’ve had as a Bonvoy member.
