Relaxing business trip. This was a business trip for my husband and I tagged along to rest and reset from my job. I can say that this was a wonderful stay. The one bedroom suite was awesome. Since I was going to be here all day by myself, I didn’t want to be stuffed into one room. There is a separate bedroom with ample space and a nice shelf that accommodated both our suitcases. Also a nice size closet. The open living room and kitchen was perfect. There were dishes, pots and pans as well as plenty of silverware. Having a full size refrigerator and a 2 burner stove was very nice. There was also a tea kettle, a toaster, microwave and coffee maker. The open spaces were separated by a large island that was great for eating as my husband came back for lunch. The living room had a couch, recliner, a built in shelf with extra drawer space and a coffee table with shelves. There was also a desk chair so you could use the island as a desk. Plenty of room on it for a table and a desk. I brought 2 blankets from home to cover the couch and chair. There was nothing wrong with them and they appeared clean and well cared for. Just a quirk of mine. There was another closet in this room which was very nice. The bathroom was nice with a shelf for toiletries. I loved that. The front desk ladies were always sweet and helpful. That’s always a plus. I had one interaction with housekeeping and she was a doll. I didn’t know how to take the lock of the stove. lol she walked away from what she was doing to help me. We laughed as she said it was a trick. _ It was but I liked the safety feature. I very much enjoyed my stay here. My husband said that some guys at his conference had rooms at Doubletree. They were not impressed with it so we picked very well. _ Candlewood for the win.

Needs better maintenance and housekeeping I was in town for a one day professional seminar. I was excited that rooms were blocked at a newer facility. Unfortunately, I have experienced cleaner rooms at older hotels. This is a no-frills extended stay hotel. It was quiet and the staff was very friendly. However, I found the room on the dirty/worn side and the light from the parking lot is positively relentless throughout the night. I can’t imagine how people stay here on a long-term basis. My recommendation is to ask for a room that does not face the parking lot. In the room, the dark furniture was “dinged” throughout, giving it a very worn look. (Seriously - just get a dark furniture touch up pen! That would make it so much more inviting.) The carpet was stained - see photo. The tub was stained with some kind of pink substance that looked like it was just very poorly cleaned. See photo. The dust and piece of fingernail on one of the bathroom shelves made it clear how well the room was turned since the last guest. There was a stain on the bed sheet, but it did appear to be fresh/washed linens. There were dishes in the dishwasher, which may have been clean, but it’s unappealing to find the room is not completely set up with and empty dishwasher. Had I been staying longer than one night, I would have felt the need to re-run the dishwasher to ensure that the dishes were clean, and since I did not put them away, I have to assume that the housekeeper just continues to re-run the DW after each guest, leaving the same dishes to possibly be washed over and over if other guests did the same. So, neither inviting, nor efficient. The bed was sufficiently comfortable and the sheets were very soft. Had the room seemed cleaner and better maintained, I would have left with a much different impression of the Candlewood Suites.

Long term stay...... The staff on day of check in: the ladies at the front desk are wonderful, especially Stephanie, who did a variety of tasks that I'm sure are not in her job description. The maintenance lady must have been having a really bad day, in mid sentence, trying to have a civil conversation, she gets up and leaves in a huff but does return to complete the task at hand.... whatever. Now Saturday must be bring your kids to work day, plus no housekeeping other than once a week. For $130/night, I'm sorry, I'm not taking out my own garbage! And they ran out of coffee cups in the lobby for free coffee. There are certain things to be expected in a hotel stay and certain things that are unacceptable. Attitudes towards paying guests, not having cups for coffee, taking out your own garbage and hallways that desperately need to be vacuumed, along with the rooms! And not very clean, musty stale smell......
