Hilton Garden Inn- perfect location Before booking our first Kaua’i island trip I did a lot of research. Talk about a perfect location! Do not let the reviews about the rooms and grounds make you change from staying here. We had an amazing stay. Rooms we clean, the staff/people were wonderful, the tiki bar was so convenient and had yummy Mai Tai’s. The views and pools are great as well! Our favorite thing about our stay had to be Curt at the front desk and lobby. You talk about a funny guy and extremely helpful for any question, joke, or guidance you may need for the island. He made our trip so fun and we would look for him any chance we could just to talk to him! He will be your new BFF for sure, we promise!! Thank you, Curt! We will be back to visit for sure!

DO NOT STAY HERE! I should have read the negative reviews of this hotel before I booked. Our room was never cleaned our entire stay, no hot water for hours, flying pest, a window cleaner poured dirty water into our room, and a filthy room with rusted equipment. But worst of all, it was the complete disregard by the employees. None of the management returned my calls and messages including Amy, Jennifer & Marc. The stay was terrible from the beginning with I contacted the hotel during the shutdown to see what woukd happen if my flight was cancelled or delayed. No one replied. It was the wirst experience ever.

Diamond Member disappointment. Longtime Diamond member here, and honestly — this hotel is in rough shape. I stayed in 2017 when it was lovely, but now it feels run-down and neglected. This time we stayed as a family, a group of six people across four rooms for over a week. The carpets smell of mildew, common areas are dirty (don’t look in the corners), and everything needs a serious refresh. Our first room reeked of mold/mildew and had a broken deadbolt on the door. After hours of waiting past midnight, we were finally moved to a different floor — but only to a room with two queen beds instead of the king we paid for. Other family members’ rooms had inconsistent housekeeping, and one hallway had a flattened dead gecko in the carpet that stayed there for days. Food is mediocre at best. The buffet is gone; breakfast is à la carte and hit or miss. Most staff seemed disengaged except for Clint (or Cliff?) at the front desk (tall man with white hair) — he was fantastic. Give that man a raise! Pros: decent pool, nice tiki bar, small public beach, close to the airport, and cheap price. Cons: mildew smell, old carpets, poor housekeeping, “resort fee” with barely any amenities (aka 1 towel per person and water each day), and limited food options. Sadly, this is my fourth disappointing Hilton in six months. It’s NOT a resort — just an aging hotel that badly needs renovation. Would not stay again.

Beware of Hidden fees We stayed here one night during our vacation. We booked it online and upon check-in we were charged $25 additional for parking in their parking lot. And then were charged an additional $25 resort fee. It left a very bad impression because we were not informed of the additional fees when booking. They would be better off Increasing their nightly rate instead of charging guest additional fees that they do not make known at time of booking. The room was spacious and very nice. However, because of the fees, I would not recommend this hotel.

After discovering cockroaches upon arrival, our confidence in the hotel’s overall cleanliness and management was lost. Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay – Guest Review .8 Stars This review was particularly difficult to write. I made every effort to present our experience objectively and without emotion, but I feel it’s important to warn future guests who may arrive at the Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay expecting a true Hilton-standard stay, only to be disappointed at the last minute. These comments are based on our personal experience, supported by photographs with timestamps and geolocation. Cleanliness: 0 Stars Upon arrival, we were placed in a lower-level room that was dimly lit. Within minutes, we began seeing cockroaches appear in multiple areas of the room. Alarmed, we quietly returned to the front desk to report our concerns. The front desk associate seemed unconcerned, offered only a brief, insincere apology, and quickly reassigned us to another room. As we went back to collect our belongings and family, another employee approached our original room carrying a large bottle of insecticide, preparing to spray. We asked him to wait until we retrieved our items. The second room appeared somewhat cleaner, but we remained uneasy about leaving belongings or food out, fearing more pests. The hallways leading to the elevator and the elevator itself, were extremely dirty, with visible spider webs, insect droppings, and other signs of neglect throughout the property. Staff: 1 Star Interactions with staff felt insincere and reactive. The overall lack of cleanliness suggested disengagement and an absence of leadership or accountability. While most staff wore uniforms and name badges, several individuals conducting work around the property were not easily identifiable. For instance, a man feeding koi fish appeared to be a third-party worker but wore no visible identification. Combined with the lack of security fencing or access control, this raised concerns about the hotel’s overall safety and supervision standards. Pricing: 1 Star Our long weekend stay was paid using 20,000 points plus approximately $375 in additional fees and parking, totaling around $1,425. Yet, the same room was listed online at $282 per night (with an Honors discount). Given the poor condition of the hotel and its limited proximity to the beach, this property does not justify its cost. For comparison, the nearby Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort offers much better beach access and based on our experience, a higher standard of quality for a similar price. Pools 1 Star The property has two pools. The smaller, circular one was initially more peaceful, but after a couple of days, the water became noticeably cloudy, with visible sunscreen and oil residue on the surface, indicating poor maintenance and filtration. Restaurant: 1 Star The restaurant offered limited dining hours and overpriced menu options, making it more practical to dine locally. Fortunately, there are plenty of nearby restaurants offering better food, service, and value for every budget. Recap After discovering cockroaches upon arrival, our confidence in the hotel’s overall cleanliness and management was completely lost. The booking agency we used, Workhuman Experiences, contacted Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay to relay our concerns and request a resolution. More than 30 days later, the hotel has not responded. As a result, it is my intention to share this review across multiple online and social media platforms to help others make informed decisions. Additional Note: At my wife’s suggestion, we did not bring our luggage directly into our home upon returning from our Kauai trip. That proved wise, when unpacking in our garage, we discovered a live cockroach inside my backpack. While the property is within walking distance of a public beach, the experience overall fell far short of Hilton standards and was deeply disappointing
