Ended up here thanks to a voucher from AA and loved it Due to delayed and cancelled flights, we ended up in Grand rapids instead of Traverse City and American airlines gave us a voucher for the holiday inn. Once we landed, I called the hotel and they had a shuttle to us within 5 minutes. The young lady at the desk was extremely friendly and helpful for our check in. We put our luggage away and went to eat at the restaurant in the hotel. The restaurant ended up being closed due to a sick employee but the front desk crew said the shuttle would take us anywhere we wanted to go to eat. So, we did, and one of the employees went with us to make sure the shuttle driver knew where the restaurant was. The shuttle picked us up when we were done. Everything about this hotel was perfect, especially with a long flying day, delays and cancellations. Excellent staff, service, and the room , bed, pillows etc were great. Loved it!

Very nice except the bed. We stayed here after a great concert in town. The room was very clean and well appointed. My only complaint is the BED. It was so soft that I had a back ache the next morning. We got in late, so we didn't get to check out the lounge. It looked very nice.

Lack of Customer Service Skills ... I guess a bed is all you are getting. The Rooms are nice, clean, simple with no frills. Looks Bright with white comforters. My complaint.. I checked in at midnight, I have an early work appointment so I will be here only a few hours... The room phone didnt work. I called from my cell, to the Man down at check in desk, and said I see there are several lines that aren't hooked up to the wall ... I am not sure what these are all to and going to. I need a new phone or at the very least a new cord. He said, I don't have any phones ... okkkk, .. I need a cord ... I don't have any of those either ... I asked for a technician.. or can someone come and see if they can repair this? He said ,,, I can come up and look just liked you did ...snarky, like, uhh,,, I'm related to him,,,, Clearly, he's lost his mind. I said,. I DONT WORK HERE.... I have to leave in a few hours .... I just hung up. It was clearly not getting repaired and I was already in night clothes with things set up for morning. I have my cell as a backup for alarms and wakeups that never comes through... but if there is an emergency ... no one can call this room. SO Darn Ridiculous ... This new culture of you do yourself check out .... check in .... ring your groceries ... fix your phone and heaters in your hotel rooms.... so sad lack of customer service skills and how to speak in a conversational manner.

Go somewhere else I stay in Holiday Inns almost 40 times a year. I had to come to Grand Rapids so I picked this place. Staff was nice. Lobby was clean. My room seemed like it was a mile from the Front Desk. There are a lot of narrow, winding halls that seem to go on forever. The bathroom door didn’t latch and the lighting in the rooms equal your average dungeon. The website talked about a free breakfast but instead they have a restaurant and the free breakfast costs $15. The carpets smell like feet and dead skin. The bath wash in the shower was empty and there weren’t enough towels etc. The air conditioner needed som repairs as well. Go somewhere else!!!

Overall, I would stay again but would check out other hotels 1st I want to start with the positives: Sales staff are GREAT. Front desk personnel are VERY helpful. Close to 28th Street where there's loads of restaurants and shopping. The A/C unit kept the room comfortable. The mattress and pillows were decent. The restaurant menu was good and our bartender was on the ball with our large group. Our meeting space was a good size. Our banquet meal was very good and plentiful. Now for the not-so-positives in no particular order: the baseboards in the bathroom were covered with dust and hair. The shower floor sloped in the wrong direction and pooled up where you step in. Our room carpet smelled like feet and y'all know exactly what that smells like! The lobby seating was FILTHY, STAINED and broke down. Breakfast was the same thing everyday, no variation. It is my opinion that it was not cooked on-site but was pre-cooked and reheated.
