Tamarack Lodge Sun Valley

Great Place Excellent stay, friendly check in and room was fantastic and right in the middle of town. Definitely would stay here again. Pet friendly a big plus for my service dog. Easy access to shopping and restaurants. Bed very comfortable and room very clean.

Great location Excellent location in the heart of town walking distance to restaurants, shops, paved and dirt trails.. This is an older lodge but nicely updated with trendy decor, a keurig, microwave and fridge. Nice bed, lenins, and use of robe. We were on the 3rd floor and had a great view of the mountains. Staff was very nice and helpful . We weren't able to check in early but we did borrow the bikes for a 3hr ride the short distance to Sun Valley Lodge and thru town. We enjoyed the stay.

Excellent My room was spacious, clean, & comfortable. The basic amenities of refrig, microwave & in room coffee maker were included. The free WiFi worked well. There was a good selection on the TV menu. The location was great - slightly over a mile from the Sun Valley Lodge, where I attended the 5-day Jazz & Music Fest. The price was very reasonable. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Remodel? Same as 25 years ago. Lipstick on a pig won't remedy their issues. Room was a hodge podge of junk furniture. Very noisy re anyone in room above. Small sink area. Uncomfortable bed. Stairs are inconvenient at best. No desk clerk on site after 10pm. This is a $75 room tops anywhere else on the planet. It is a decent location in town, hence the 2 stars.

Surface level improvements - still rustic as it always was If you are in town to party and get up early to ski without a care for anyone around you then this place is for you. There is nothing wrong with that at all, just saying this is a good match for you. We were not there to party and we did need to sleep past 8am but that wasn't going to happen. It was like a heard of elephants any time someone went up or down the stairs to their rooms. The whole building would sound like an earthquake. The beds were super comfy and the room was clean, but the improvements that were made were very "paint level". I'll just give one example. The bathroom fan. The old bathroom fans are basically installed in the ceiling and they are plugged in up in the ceiling, so that the one switch controls the light and the fan. When the fan is running about 80 db, you can't hear anything outside the bathroom. So you can't have the light on and listen to your kids in the other room for example. Unlikely we will be back for the above reasons. I think we are just not the target customer. Staff were very nice, it was just really, really noisy.
