They Aren't Even Open Place has been closed for over a year. I thought my fellow travelers might like to know before exiting the interstate to find out. When it was open it was average but some real interesting patrons at the bar who would offer drinks in their rooms. Friendly sorts

Unbelievable We were told by someone at Hotels.com that the hotel had “rave reviews”. Upon arrival, we were in shock. The place was a dump. The carpet throughout the hotel was soiled all over. The ceilings showed signs of sagging and water damage. Inside the rooms the carpet may have been slightly newer, but had ripples on the floor. The furniture was distressed and stained. We had to call for clean sheets when we saw the stains and dirt on our sheets. The girl at the front desk brought up 2 stained king-size top sheets and 3 pillowcases for the 4 pillows. She said that was all she could find. She also mentioned that the entire housekeeping staff had been fired that day. The towels in the bathroom were stained and worn. The soaps and shampoos in the bathroom were leftovers from the Howard Johnson hotel that this hotel had been 3 years earlier. The clock in the room could not be set. The WiFi was spotty at best. The room we rented for our kids had a TV that would only receive one channel. This hotel was like an abandoned, unmaintained hotel that got bought out and operated by a slum lord. The whole experience was creepy and dirty. It is shocking that such a hotel can be legally operated. It needs to be shutdown, cleaned up (or refurbished) with a clean environment that is normally available at respectable hotels. This place could be a health hazard. We were afraid to eat anything there. We escaped after one night after calling the service who booked us to get a refund. I will research reviews before booking any hotel again. I will also not trust booking services again.

AVOID!!! This is the worst I have experienced over many years of travel. We had not planned to stay so searched the online reservation services last minute (was not much available) for a hotel. Booked the Magnuson, arrived to a DUMP to say the least. Was greeted by the rudest front desk clerk ever with Iron Maiden blaring in the background. She called someone to check on our room and from what I gathered there was not one available. I had to ask if that's what she was checking on. When she responded "yeah", I told her we would just go somewhere else and would like my money back. She said I would have to get it back through the service it was booked through. Well, guess what? When I contacted them, they called the Magnuson manager to be told that we were charged and had not cancelled our reservation. They could not help me and I was told that I would have to contact the hotel! Haven't I done that already?!!!! Thank goodness I had used my credit card and they were able to help!! NEVER even consider staying here is my best advise!

Worst hotel stay ever!!! This hotel is old and dirty. I would have left after checking but everything was full this particular weekend. The face and hand towels looked liked they should be hanging from the side of a mop bucket. Did not even put them on my face and hands. Just wanted to get up and get out of there but there was NO HOT WATER!!!!...Would love even a partial refund!!!

Review of Magnuson inn in knoxville tenn. 10/01/13 Even though the inn was not busy, we were put on the fourth floor room 418A. The ice machine did not work. We called the desk and were told to come down to the first floor and they would give us some. So much for service. there were sticky soda spills on the table..is this room cleaned?? The TV was locked in Spanish. The remote would not change it. Called again and were told there was nothing they could do about it. Bath towels were no bigger then a hand towel in other motels and they felt like sandpaper.. It looked like someone picked there nose on one of the pillow cases,! Asked for regular coffee and were told there wasn't any. just come down at 7 am and we could get some. The real kicker was trying to take a shower in the morning. There was NO HOT WATER !! It seems that the employees in this motel did not care about customers. From the front desk to the house keepers no one just did not care. When I pass through here next month you can bet I will not be staying here. I will also inform friend who travel to knoxville about what we had to put up with.
