Great Place to Stay I just want to say this place has been a lifesaver! I recently relocated back to San Diego. During transition I needed a place to stay.. My working interviews had me going all over San Diego..So I’ve been to many budget minded hotels for the past month or so.. This is, hands down, the best Motel 6 in San Diego. It’s safe, clean and smoke-free. The AC/heater work great and management keeps any riff-raf out. Traveling as a single woman I feel comfortable staying here. They provide a great place to stay for a great price!

Evicted for SLEEPING!!! BEWARE! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I kid you not. Today I was evicted for.... well, sleeping. I checked in for two nights - I am from San Diego yet my company was holding their Holiday party about two miles from here. Being the coordinator for the party I thought it would be smart to stay here and have a place close to the venue so that I would not have to drive home after the long day of set up and the festivities. I checked in on Friday, no issues. I have stayed at Motel 6's before and knew they were no frill and all I needed was a bed per the above. The lady took my credit card, we spoke about a room and a possible late check out on Sunday. She advised check out was at 11am and I said that would be fine. She even brought be a blanket because I know that they only have sheets on their beds. I was in and out of the Motel that Saturday as I was still running errands in the area preparing for the guest raffle and party. At no time was I contacted regarding any issue with my stay or check in. Party went great, I was very happy that I was able to just get a lyft for two miles away and settled in to bed at about 1am Sunday. At 8:55am Sunday Morning there was a banging at my door that startled me and I immediately yelled "occupied" as I thought it might be an error on housekeeping. I turned over to try to recoup my sleep and then again, BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG!! I look out the window expecting the police had meant to search a room and got the wrong room number (this is not to far fetched) and there was a man in a cap and jacket with this metal large screw banging at my door!!! I open the door and was obviously up set. I asked loudly, "CAN I HELP YOU???" and he just starts talking on a 2 way radio, Then says to me "There was no deposit so we were checking the room". I asked him what the hell did that mean? I had a 11am check out time! He literally just walked away!!! I called the front desk and was immediately met with an attitude, same statement, "There was no deposit" and I replied "How is that my problem?!?! you could have told me Saturday, Friday when I checked in or when I checked out, there was no need to wake me. She said I was yelling at her and hung up.... HUNG UP after waking me due to their error?!?!? Yes I was pissed!! I went down to the front lobby which they promptly locked as I approached. I went to the window and advised that I had every right to be upset and not hung up on. I asked for her name and she gave a name on the post it and then when I asked for the managers name and number or if the hotel was corporate or franchised.... she said "That's it, I am calling the cops!" ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?!?!? I said that was fine. I called my wife to pick me up earlier than we had planned and she arrived about 10:05. Meanwhile I packed up - no shower - no extra sleep as planned while wondering WTF was going on. I figured it out. The lady on Friday failed to get a deposit. What I do NOT understand is - they have a card on file, they pre charged my card Friday, they could have spoke to me Saturday, but why on GODS GREEN EARTH would they feel the need to bang on my door like they were the cops??? And then treat ME as if I created their error?!?! To add insult to injury, I made sure to document the issue by taking pictures. I then received a call in my room FROM THE FRONT DESK telling me that I was not allowed to take pictures outside IN PUBLIC and that the police would be there soon. I told them I had every right to take pictures and that the police would explain this to them and hung up. And yes, I took more pics, cleared my room by 10:05... and YES!!! Waited for the police. They arrived 15 minutes later (10:20ish) and of course started speaking to the two individuals first making me wait, and then I advised them of what occurred. The end result was even though they were wrong, it was their property and had the right to remove me from the property. I advised the police that this was my intention but wanted to La Mesa Police Incident Report as I might proceed with further action. I asked the police why they could disturb my peace and create a public disturbance. They basically advised that I was correct but their hands were tied. I have called corporate this afternoon and asked for a refund of one night and was advised that the complaint was valid yet this is a franchise and that they had the final say. I guess I will have to get my money back by making sure everyone knows the nightmare that occurred - Evicted for sleeping! (and for their error)... Unreal. Last note, this place was filthy, cigarette burns on the furniture and bath tub. Dilapidated furniture. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

Take Your Own Blankets! Great rates and great recommendations; what’s there to lose? Driving over 500 miles from Sacramento to Lemon Grove in one day to drop an elderly person off, stay the night and then drive back the next day, we planned on a good night’s sleep, especially at our age (young 80’s). After checking in a person will notice the “worn look” in need of a patching and paint, drafts about the door and windows and a bloody Kleenex on the floor. Going to bed that evening we noticed there was only a thin sheet and a thin Devan on the bed. The air conditioner’s fan was making all kinds of racket when you turned the heat on. Luckily I had heavy duty workout pants and hooded top to put on; which I had to sleep in to keep warm. When checking in, the clerk mentioned there was coffee available 24 hours a day. When checking out at 5 in the morning, the grumpy attendant noted to us that the coffee was only available after 6 am; but he would make an exception for us (the already made coffee tasted awful). Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Could be great if the room was clean and not all broken Positives: - The guy at the front desk was very nice during both check-in and check-out - The parking lot is great and also has covered parking spaces - The room at first glance is beautiful Negatives: - They advertise the rooms as beautiful and entirely renovated, that’s a lie. - My fridge and microwave looked like they came straight from the dumpster - Some fixtures on the wall are one sneeze away from crashing on the floor, same for the window blinds - The bed sheets had several dirty spots: inconceivable for a hotel - The towels were all dirty (yes, the one on the picture on the floor was unused): absolute madness - There is a sticker on the front door when viewed from the inside that advises you to engage the security latch for your protection... The lock was installed too far from its counterpart and was impossible to use! What!? See picture. I will not be returning to this hotel. They should be ashamed to allow their guests to use dirty towels and sleep in dirty sheets (if you wash them and there is still a stain on it then throw it away or take it home, don’t use it for your establishment).
