Comfort Suites La Porte - Baytown

Midnight Madness I find it strange that that I didn't receive an invitation to give feedback on my stay at the Comfort Inn in La Porte, TX. Maybe not so strange. I have an idea why, actually. I'll leave that here... We checked in after 4pm on the day of our reservation. We had a bust evening, and got in late. My wife asked the young man at the front desk if the pool was still open. He responded with a wishy-washy, "Well, not really, but there are people still in there. I guess if you went in there, I couldn't really do anything about it..." We took that as his approval, as long as we didn't cause trouble. We went to the pool around 10pm, past a small sign that said, "Pool Closed." After what we had been told, and the fact that the door was UNLOCKED, we went for a swim. There was one other family with a 2-y.o. girl there. A hotel employee came out to talk to them (they obviously knew each other), and acknowledged us. We got out of the pool around 11 and went back to the room and to bed. Around midnight, we awoke to a knock on the door and an armed, uniformed police officer was there WITH the hotel employee we had seen at the pool. They told us that we were being escorted off the property for being in the pool. We explained the story and they went to get the manager. An hour later, a man identifying himself as the general manager knocked on our door, again with the other employee. He was ready to kick us out. He told us that the pool was closed due to chemicals being put into the pool to treat it and that the chemicals could be toxic. We explained again what we had been told and he relented. Good luck going back to sleep after that! My wife and three girls were terrified. At NO time were we ever told about the pool being closed or treated. Apparently, other hotel staff didn't even know about it, or there would have been some communication at check-in, by the front desk, and certainly by the hotel employee who saw us and then accompanied the officer to our door. This is the type of problem that comes from the top, and the general manager is to blame. I am sure that he fired the gentleman who would not answer us directly. This manager should be dismissed, as well. Needless to say, we will never visit this hotel again. I cannot believe that nothing was done for us as a concession for the midnight madness. This is inexcusable.

Clean, modern, safe, inexpensive. We recently had to stay at a local hotel because the AC went out in our house. For a week we had no AC at home. The first night we stuck it out but the second night we started looking for a nice, inexpensive place to stay. We found this hotel pretty much at random. The price was right so we booked. I was prepared to be disappointed, but... I am so glad we booked at the Comfort Suites in La Porte. The place is nice, modern, clean, and spacious. We found a very inexpensive room that could hold my family of five very comfortably. The free hot breakfast was very popular with my three sons. If you are traveling to La Porte, if your house is temporarily unavailable, or if you have family visiting you here you should recommend Comfort Suites. You will not regret it.

Weekend stay Stayed here two different weekends for a family event. Both visits were great. Rooms are recently remodeled. Very clean. Quiet place. Friendly staff. Breakfast was typical hotel breakfast. Check in and out was easy. Only complaint was low water pressure in the shower. Other than that I recommend.

Business trip This is a nice hotel I stay a lot when I come down on business. The staff is nice and helpful. The breakfast is good. My only negative is that the exercise room did not have any towels or hand wipes. Other then that it is all good.

Big disappointment This hotel is not up to Comfort Suites standards. It had a bad odor, rude employees, and unclean bathroom. I wish we had stayed elsewhere. We were too tired to hassle about our room so we stayed and checked out very early.
