Road trip to Colorado and Wyoming We arrived in Lamar. Hotel was easy to find. Don’t let the location deter you. This is an industrial area. the street had a lot of trucks zooming by and some trucks going to the industrial park. Has I previously said don’t the area deter you from staying his hotel. This was one of the better Holiday Inn Express hotel we have ever stayed at. The staff is very courteous and responsive . Rooms were in excellent shape. Clean, everything works, and the beds were very comfortable. Very quiet rooms, even with the heavy traffic on the road beside the hotel. The wireless connection was good, but the room we stayed had an actual cat 5 connection for my work computer. If your travel plan include visiting Dodge city and heading to Colorado, check this hotel out. It is really a high-quality Holiday Inn express.

An Adequate Stay There is nothing wrong with this hotel. Our room was clean, and everything worked. There was plenty of parking. The breakfast was okay. Sometimes the front desk was left unstaffed, which we found odd. People should be aware that the place is expensive for what it is. This may be because there are no competing Marriott, Hilton, or Best Western hotels for miles in any direction.

Nice, Modern Property We spent the night here on our way to Montana. I used points for our room but, as points go, I thought it was very reasonable. When we checked in Sunday, the young lady at the desk wasn’t the most friendly but she gave me my keys which was the most important thing, I asked her about restaurants that might be open on a Sunday evening. She told me about La Mission and said that was about it. (That is, other than fast food.) I asked her if it was good and she said it was. I realize that is a matter of opinion but let me just say I wish I’d gone to McDonalds instead. (Separate review of La Mission has been submitted.) There is plenty of parking at the motel which is good since we’re driving a 16’ truck. Our room was very nice. Spacious, clean, a sitting area, USB ports and plugs everywhere and TVs both for the sitting are and the bed. The bed was comfortable and we slept like rocks. There was a safe, a small refrigerator and a full-size ironing board and an iron. Breakfast was good. Lots of choices. Omelets, bacon, potatoes, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bagels, bread, etc… Anyone should be able to find something they like! When I checked out Monday morning, that clerk was much more friendly. She explained the charges that hit my card, why it happened and that they would be reversed. All in all, glad we stayed there and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again. There are not a lot non-fast-food dining options in town but, other than Sunday night, you should be able to find something. And there’s always Mickey Ds.

Will stay again Perfectly adequate stay overall. Kind of a poor first impression walking in and waiting several minutes for someone to be at the desk, but great after that. I stayed in one of the extra space rooms with the sofa and coffee table, which was nice to have. Very clean and generally in good shape. The renovation work going on downstairs wasn’t a bother at all for me. The usual HIE breakfast spread if you’re into that. Right on brand and what you expect

Son stranded Our son was stranded in Lamar due to a bus breakdown. We drove to Lamar to meet him, staff was friendly and helpful (truly understand customer service). Room spotless beds comfortable, breakfast great, especially the warm cinnamon rolls. Even though the room was in my name, our son was able to check in first. Online description and photos were accurate. Highly recommend. About a half an hour east of Lamar is the site of the Ameche Interment Camp where Japanese-Americans were unjustly interred during WWII. Worth a visit.
