The Luxor Hotel,nLas Vegas We had an excellent stay in the Luxor. The room was huge, the bed comfortable and the water piping not. Although at the southern end of the strip, there's a very cheap and frequent bus service if you don't want to walk.n

Good location, tired rooms Good location and close to airport, sign and strip. The tram is free and helpful to save your feet. The rooms are tired and old, but very clean and tidy. The shower is super powerful and the beds made daily. Walkways to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur with shops and cheaper restaurants than the hotels. Taxi from airport is flat rate $21. All hotel casinos are identical machines etc so Luxor is no different.

Football weekend Good property very close to the stadium, which made for an easy walk over for the football game. Good food and drinks at Tender Steakhouse.

Poor old Luxor Check-in lines were long, only 5 people manning the expansive check-in desk area. We booked through Expedia and were informed the company regularly overbooks so the room we booked and paid for wasn't available. The only time we didn't see a line was at 3am. Room was clean, bathroom light was bright and fan was obnoxiously loud while not appearing to actually do anything, 'rainfall' shower head had blocked jets, husbands comment "would strip the skin off a pig". Rooms no longer have refrigerators so no where to chill drinks - have no idea why they would remove them inconvenient to have to constantly get ice. Rest of hotel was reasonable, pool had green algae on the bottom and wasn't appealing, floors in some areas were dirty, elevators are showing their age with peeling interiors and strange noises. Top Tips: book through MGM get the room you want and points, take a cooler because constantly having to refill the ice bucket is obnoxious. Arco gas station across the boulevard sells water much cheaper than the hotel shop. Overall stay was OK but will be our last time at the Luxor.

Frustrating guest calling for improvement I normally don’t like to vent out and talk low about anything, but this place has earned it!!! First of all location, it’s not the most convenient, not very easy to get to by foot, and it’s at the tail end of the strip and a bit off the strip. Also, it’s massive inside and expect to do a lot of walking to get to your room and casino..etc. The lighting inside very dim and it’s not very inviting. Dated furniture, awful odor. Pool is not that big and not much entertainment. We booked three nights and 4days as part of our vacation. We went with very low expectations so we won’t get any surprises. But this place nailed it and made us feel very disappointed. First, check in (typical line ups in Vegas, and they offered the online check in) which in my opinion need to be removed. They give you a digital card only and if you need a physical card. Then, you will need to line up to get it. What is the point of online check in then?!! The digital card they provide you doesn’t work properly and it’s very complicated. I am pretty tech savvy but this thing didn’t work at all. Anyhow, it get better. Room was far away from the elevator and tucked away from the main lobby, view was suck and it was facing the walls of the main lobby canopy. Right after I checked in and saw the room, I went down and asked to change my room because I am traveling with my family(kids) and wanted them to get some healthy sunlight. I was told they are sold out for the night and I have to come back in the morning to see if any room becomes available. Sure enough I went the next day in the morning which is Sep29 and I spoke to Silvia at the front desk and she looked up and said sorry can’t find you anything available right now unless you are willing to wait. I said I have no problem waiting as long as I get something with a better view and brighter room. She then told me, I found you a nice room and she gave me the room number and showed me on the hotel map where it is located on the 19th floor I believe. The only thing she said, the people just checked out and you will need to come back later to receive it. I said np, but I am about to go out with the family and we maybe late is that ok or do I have to come at a certain time. She said , “no worries that’s even better, so the room can be cleaned and ready”. Fast forward later in the evening, I come back to get the rooms keys, and I was told that they don’t have any room for me. That was very frustrating and disappointing experience . So I told the lady who was telling me this. They reserve it for me in the morning and I was told to come back later to get it. She replied back with confidence. No room was booked and we can’t hold any reservation. Then, I told her exactly what happened earlier and how Silvia provided me with the room number and location . Then, her tone changed and she said yes, we held the room for you but one of the managers released it at 6:10 because we needed it and sje cut the conversation short, so I asked if she can find anything else for me and I asked why I wasn’t told that they could release it to anyone. She just said sorry. I got nothing available unless you want to move to the second or third floor I may have something available. This got me even more stressed because I am not happy with my 5th floor view and she is trying to downgrade the room location for me. No apology or sympathy whatsoever. She didn’t even offer to ask a supervisor or to look up another room and get back to me. She only said we are sold out and got no room available for you.!!! Luxor, you could definitely do a better job at servicing your guest so you can win them over and they don’t go elsewhere. This is my first and last time staying with MGM hotels but definitely not my last time to Vegas.
