A wonderful experience We were six adults, three couples travelling through France. We spent five wonderful nights at this Hotel which was outstanding. The service was friendly, courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the setting was magnificent. We also had dinner in the two star Michelin restaurant which was superb. All in all we had a most enjoyable stay at Hotel Ombremont. We all highly recommend it and would love to visit again.

Amazing setting, tired hotel My husband and I stayed here for one night as part of a driving holiday. Bourget du lac and the hotel setting is breathtaking and certainly worth a stay. I think the star of this particular hotel is the restaurant which has a very good reputation and the dining room has wonderful views across the lake. By comparison with other Relais and Chateux hotels we've stayed in the hotel is tired; our room wasn't great, but the staff were lovely and this is a strong selling point for the hotel.

Serene and Telaxing This Relais & Chateau affiliated property sits on an 8 acre property on a hill overlooking lake Le Bourget, the largest lake in France in the Savoie region. The property was built in 1927 and at one point served as a vacation home for the Johnsons of Johnson outboard boat motors. Today it welcomed guests to their quiet an serene environment to relax, decompress, and enjoy Michelin 2 star cuisine. An old Abbey (Abbaye d'Hautecomb) is 6 miles away and worth a visit. So stay here for 1-2 nights and enjoy the luxury of relaxing, eating well and doing little.

Lovely stay Hotel Ombremont was a great hotel with beautiful views from my room overlooking Lac du Bourget. The dinner was fantastic with such creative (and surprisingly healthy) courses. I also took a cooking class and it was a true highlight to my trip. Jean Pierre Jacob and his team were very patient and informative. The dishes we learned from them were delicious. For anyone who wants a get-away in a lesser-known party of France this is a great spot. My only caveat is that the decor is a bit tired and ready for a freshen-up, yet that would definitely not stop me from returning.

Not cheap but great hotel and even better food Fell across this place by accident. Beautiful views over the Lac du Bourget although it's a pretty steep trek down to the lakeside. Hotel staff were impeccable; keen to help with our limited French, friendly with what I'd describe as an old fashioned sense of courtesy. Stayed in room 19, garden room; very quiet, big enough, powerful shower, good bed. Downside no kettle. Restaurant was a spectacular experience. Others who do this regularly may have different views but as first time visitors to a 2* michelin restaurant we were super impressed by the whole experience. Just the setting alone was fabulous with dusk to sunset views right across the lake to Aix Les Bains. Waiters were young but knowledgeable, impeccable in their courtesy, obviously well drilled; the food was like nothing I've eaten before; a 9 nine course stunning collection of fish, meats and vegetables from appetisers through to dessert. It cost an absolute packet but if you're going to a place like this then either you know that already or you should. Can't recommend it highly enough.
