Nice place to stay, if you must travel across Oklahoma. Stopped here on the way from Taos to St Louis; glad we did! (We were returning to NY in a roundabout way, after viewing the Total Eclipse in Wyoming.) Down the street, we were delighted to discover Dorothy's House (dropped there by the tornado, I suppose) and the wonderful museum with lots of interesting historic antiques (such as old typewriters, telegraph machines, printing presses, quilts, buggywhips, and so forth from the early days of homesteaders and sodbusters in the dust bowl..

worst HIE experience ever Before making reservations, READ THE INFO ON THE HEADER OF THEIR WEBSITE TALKING ABOUT THEIR RENOVATIONS, something one does not see if booking through another website, including IHG rewards club (as we did). We walked in the door and the place was a mess. Joint compound (used to tape drywall) dust greeted us... a taste that stayed in my mouth for some time... and was on my skin until I could take a shower. Dried compound everywhere... floors, carpets, elevator, even furniture in our room. We've stayed in hotels worldwide and never had had a worse experience. And when we travel domestically, we stay in HIEs whenever possible, so we have a good basis on which to base this judgement. Breakfast was accompanied with hammering as the front desk was being torn apart. As we were stepping out of the elevator for breakfast, one of the workers pushed my wife out of his way as he got into the elevator. All this, and we paid full price! my recommendation: stop at a HIE before or after Liberal...don't even think about staying here! Oh yes... I asked that the manager contact me so I could discuss my experiences. He wasn't in before we left, so I gave the assistant manager my cell phone number and asked that he call me. Two days later, no call. What a way to run a business... run and hide from the customers.

Underwhelming The only positive thing from my stay was the gluten free breakfast foods. There is no automatic door for entry which makes it nearly impossible to bring in luggage using a luggage cart. The desk staff at check in was far more interested in their own conversation than being attentive to the guest checking in. The furnishings and decor are old and worn - the ripped and stretched out carpet in the hallway is a hazard. The stale smell was not able to be covered by deodorizer. The location was not convenient. I was overcharged for one of my nights. Absolutely not impressed.

Good Night Rest I have stayed at many Holiday Inns over the years and I found this property to be a good one. From the check in to the quality of the room and facilities - a nice stay. They are remodeling a portion of the hotel at a time but they did a good job of separating the guests from it.

Poor management We booked online a group of 10 rooms. We called hotel a week prior to our stay and they confirmed that we had 10 rooms reserved. When we arrived we were told the GM had given our rooms away and that we didn't do a step in the reservation. Umm...we never received any communication that we needed to do anything else and wasn't asked for any other information when we called to confirm the rooms. They were able to provide us with 10 rooms but charged $706 extra. We were told they couldn't give us the group rate without the Manager's approval. We have called several times to speak with the manager and he is never there, never returns calls and won't address the issue. There seems to be a lack of training with the staff and total lack of concern by the Manager.
