Truly a once-in-a-lifetime place. My son and I ended up going during one of the worst storms in June. It rained, thundered and lightninged, and we even lost power a few times for a very short while. Even with all this, the place was incredible. We loved seeing the tucans, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, and white-faced monkeys. During breaks in the storms, we enjoyed the mud bath and pools. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, and spoke varying levels of English which never got in the way of communication.

CUSTOMER SERVICE COULD BE BETTER AND EMPLOYEES BE NICER! The place is lovely, however it's in the middle of nowhere. If you don't mind staying at the resort the whole time then this place is for you. The service was ok, the staff wasn't very friendly and it didn't feel hospitable at all. We made a car service reservation to pick us up at the border and didn't receive any information from the hotel until I called and requested it. After they messed up with the reservation and since I got another form of transportation to get to the resort, they expected us to still pay the driver even though it was their mistake for not providing the correct information sooner. They made us feel like they were doing us a favor. Oh, and when we got to the hotel, I guess the woman who messed up the reservation confronted me about what happened and basically told me to be quiet. Honestly, if it wasn't because we were with our child, tired and already had paid for the rooms, I would have left. This was VERY bad customer service.

Beautiful, Serene, Mountain Hideaway with Tons of Nature, Hot Springs and Mud Baths Our stay at Borinquen Thermal Resort in Costa Rica was really lovely. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning surroundings and the warm hospitality of the staff. The resort is nestled in a lush, natural setting with an abundance of wildlife, which added to the overall charm and tranquility of our stay. We were in one of the suites and it was beyond charming.  A great space with a lovely covered patio under a tree to sit and watch the rain fall with a glass of wine and a book. A major highlight of the property was the lovely pool area, perfect for lounging and taking in the beautiful scenery. Tucked behind the pool area is an amazing natural steam room...it's built over some natural hot springs - so the steam from the springs rises up through the wooden floorboards and it's a really amazing experience. There are also some nice pools fed with natural geothermic hot springs. Soaking in these warm, mineral-rich waters was incredibly rejuvenating and a true highlight of our trip. They also have a cold dip pool to relieve you when you need a break. Next to the pool are mud baths (filled fresh daily - directly from the hot springs on site!) and they were a unique and fun experience, leaving our skin feeling refreshed and invigorated.  The on-site spa was another fantastic feature. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to get a service - but the facilities looked great. The lovely included breakfast at the resort’s restaurant was made even better by the great views from the dining area. Our dinner was lovely - I particularly liked the ceviche and the pork rib in coffee sauce. Throughout our brief stay, we were amazed by the amount of wildlife we encountered. From colorful toucans, to giant iguanas, and pizotes to playful monkeys, the resort is a haven for nature lovers. It was wonderful to see so many animals in their natural habitat. We only booked the place for a night - we were flying out of Liberia and decided to hit Borinquen for one night before we left as it's just over an hour from the airport.  I wish we would have spent one more night.  It was a great way to relax after a lot of adventure the previous 10 days (horseback riding, zip lining, hikes, beach days, etc.) and I really enjoyed the tranquil mountains after some time in busier towns. 2-3 days here would be really great!

What a way to finish our trip! Wow! You could have knocked me over when we walked into our junior suite high on the hill! We have enjoyed stays at very nice places in CR but this seemed a bit “over the top”. Huge clean, tastefully decorated and well furnished with all the comforts we could think of—even wash cloths— often missing in other lodges. Lot of storage space, a/c, ceiling fans, plenty of light, and a jacuzzi next to a shower stall almost as large as our bathroom at home. The view was great with the forest immediately adjacent to the cottage—a birder’s paradise. A steep, steep walk to/from the restaurant and other areas but the shuttle service was very prompt. Meals were excellent with timely service and friendly wait staff. During breakfast white-throated magpie-jays attempting to steal food add kept staff and guests entertained. The resort had various activities/amenities we did not take advantage of being on the go birding. But even then with a family of Pacific screech owls in a tree along the cottage access road, a nesting sunbittern with chicks along the small stream or the beautiful male masked tityra near the restaurant balcony made for enjoyable birding. As the cost of our stay here was included in the overall price of our ten-day package in-country I really can not comment on value. But, all-in-all I would stay here again—but maybe not in the junior suite as that was a bit more than we needed.

A day to remember forever ... horseback riding, ziplining, lunch and volcanic spa treatments! What a fabulous resort! We started our day riding horses up to the El Misterio waterfall and to the edge of Rincón de la Vieja volcano with breathtaking views of the Guanacaste coast. We then got to trade in the saddles for harnesses to soar through a series of 13 platforms, getting a bird's-eye view of a waterfall, wildlife and the beautiful jungle canopy way way below our feet! For an adrenaline junkie like me, the Borinquen Costa Rica canopy tour does not disappoint.  You get to soar high across and through the tree tops for 1.5 km on the canopy zip lines that deliver the ride of a lifetime. Eder was one of our zip guides that recorded our runs with my phone.  He and the other guides made this one of the best days ever that we will never forget!  We also had an amazing lunch at the  La Carreta Restaurant at the Borinquen Thermal Resort. Great service amd wonderful freshly prepared food. We then finished the day relaxing with a natural volcanic steam sauna, mudbath, and hot/cold plunges in the thermal pool springs. I would love to return one day. #Costarica2024 #Borinquen #thermalresort #puravida #ziplining #mrwrightadventure
