Perfect Wedding Day We just had our wedding in the Hampshire Suite at Old Thorns on 3rd August 2025. We are still re-living our special day over and over. Our wedding coordinator Eleanor was nothing short of exceptional, she came in early for her shift when there were things that needed resolving on the morning of the wedding without hesitation, and stayed with us right til the very end – this must have been such a long day for Eleanor but she never showed that it was any problem. She was bright, funny and engaging and seemed genuinely excited to support us with our big day. Nothing was too much trouble and she handled everything wonderfully.
The Hampshire Suite is gorgeous, which is why we chose it, but the backdrop of Old Thorns is incredible – the weather held off an we managed to get our photos on top of the glorious hill overlooking the stunning grounds.
Izzy was our point of contact during planning, and she was also exceptional – she worked so hard to help us with our vision and was always quick and responsive when we had questions during the planning process. Many of the staff at Old Thorns are truly passionate about what they are doing, and in particular the wedding department – Danni who helped us on the morning of our wedding stepping in to cut the cake while Eleanor took us off in the golf buggy for photos, and staying with me and my bridal party as we waited to go down the aisle. Every mad idea we had or funny quirk for our wedding was met with warmth and excitement from the weddings team – and they deserve a huge shoutout for the work that they do – its no mean feat hosting multiple weddings in one weekend and these staff were nothing short of incredible.
Also a little shout out to Liam the bartender in the sports bar who was having his first shift the night before our wedding who was absolutely lovely to chat to and super friendly. Honestly, we are so glad we chose Old Thorns as our venue – we are so pleased with the wedding team there, and if you are thinking about old thorns for your wedding we would definitely recommend as we feel like our day was nothing short of perfection. We couldn’t have done it without Izzy and Eleanor – so we thank you so much for everything.

Ladies golf break I was here with a group (32) from my golf club .
The course was very good for a resort course and had some great views of the surrounding area.
Our group was spread over the complex, with one group in one ofthe penthouse suites, which was very impressive ( and offered with a special rate)
As mentioned in previous reviews the rooms could do with A/C as we had no windows that could opened , which resulted in a very warm night’s sleep.
All the staff were very efficient and helpful in all areas of the complex.
The food at breakfast was good and plentiful and found that you could order different varieties of cooked eggs!!
Our preordered evening meal was a bit haphazard with some friends having to wait quite a while for their main course, but we were a big group to cater for.
I would recommend this resort for a golf break, though a comfortable indoor area to sit to have a drink , at anytime of the day, would be a nice addition tothe facilities

Nice hotel and very good staff. Bit expensive Nice hotel and friendly staff in particular Amy, Haley and Theo in the Atrium. Ideal for large groups too as plenty of areas for the meals. The food was hit and miss, with some good meals and some not so good. Also bit disappointed that some of the mains didn't come with sides and £7 for a small side order of fries seems excessive. Drinks a the higher priced side but I guess with the nice decor your are paying for the upkeep of that. Golf course layout is good but the condition was poor and in need of some investment.

Staff service was exceptional but food wasn't great and the course was in terrible condition 36 of us just stayed for 2 nights DBB with 3 rounds of golf.
There are plenty of brilliant things about this resort but some of the problems, are big problems.
Pros - The course is beautifully laid out, the rooms were fine and EVERY member of staff I had any encounter with, was absolutely brilliant. Some of the best service I have experienced in the UK. Even with difficult drunken golfers, they were friendly, polite and professional. Exceptional service.
Cons - The golf course was in terrible condition. We were told on the 1st tee that it was pick and place anywhere. The fairways lacked grass in places all over the course and the greens had been treated leaving them with tramlines running through them. Putting was pot luck. The food was very hit and miss. What came from the kitchen was good if it was ordered individually, but for group dinner and a busy buffet breakfast, it was actually pretty bad. I know golfers prefer quantity over quality, but it really wasn't good at all. Pale chicken wings with no seasoning that looked they had gone through the microwave (or effectively "steamed" in a big oven), cold dry burgers and limited choice at breakfast with pale cold sausages and empty containers.
Staff were brilliant but some of the problems are just too significant for service to overcome.

A pleasant family break Stayed Thursday 31st July to Aug 2nd in a ground floor 2 bed apartment. Check in was easy, location of apartment excellent with fabulous golf course views. Access from the car park is annoying especially for my mom who’s mobility isn’t great, you have to walk up a slope or down steps which is not ideal however once inside it was great. Contemporary and spacious with 2 nice bathrooms and huge comfortable beds.
Only downside is the kitchen looks great but is not as well equipped as you would hope, they obviously don’t expect uou to use it but we had meals from Waitrose the first night and brought our own breakfast. There is no microwave and only 3 dinner plates and not a sharp knife only a bread knife.
There are not many comfortable easy accessed benches around the hotel and the patio of our apartment really would be enhanced by the addition of outdoor furniture especially as it was warm and sunny Friday so come on management, invest in some outdoor furniture.
We ate on the kings restaurant on the 2nd night. The staff were super. Food was good, but avoid the avocado brownie it is very odd.
All in all a very pleasant experience and we would stay again.
