Do not stay here! This hotel is more like a MOTEL. The parking lot is dark, the carpet is dirty, and the design is old. Similarly the rooms are old, the carpet is dirty, and the rooms are not properly cleaned. I will never stay there again. If you are used to the Holiday Inn standard this hotel, rather motel, does not follow that standard. Additionally, everyone in our group felt the same way. One co-worker said she found panties or socks behind the dresser. There was hair and trash in my room.

Needs to be torn down, not remodeled We recently booked a stay at your hotel for two nights. We were looking forward to some rest and relaxation from the demands of work and everyday life. The online pictures of the hotel made it look very appealing. Large pool, hot tub, bar area, sitting areas, etc. Very deceiving pictures! Upon arrival at your hotel, we had to maneuver our way around a parking lot full of potholes. We had a small bag of garbage to throw out, which would barely fit in the full garbage containers outside of the lobby doors. This was at 4:00 in the afternoon, when several people were just arriving for their stay. We had booked a room online for $140.00 per night. This included our taxes, with a total of $280.00 for the weekend. The room was supposed to have 2 queen beds, as we were traveling with our son and daughter. We had also requested a roll away cot. Upon checking in, we were told that they only had a room available with one king bed. They told us that since we booked through hotels.com, they could not guarantee what we requested. This was news to us! We told the front desk that this would not work, as we had two children traveling with us which was clearly stated in the reservation. They offered up 2 cots, but were concerned that they may not fit due to the size of the rooms. When walking down the hallway, we noticed a very strong chlorine smell. The pool is located in the middle of the hotel, with no enclosure other than a fence. Our room was located directly across from the pool area. There was a lot of shouting going on, as a hockey team was swimming and loudly shouting "Marco - Polo." We tried the key to our room several times, but could not get it to work. When the hotel staff came to help, we took one look at the room, and decided we were not staying. The room smelled very strongly of chlorine, and was falling apart. The bed skirting was all ripped out, and there were many marks on the walls, carpet, and bedding. The room was tiny, and our image of a peaceful getaway was out the window. We quickly went back up to the front desk, and were told that no refunds would be honored due to booking through hotels.com. We were told that if we wanted to try to get a refund we would have to call hotels.com and we would probably be put on hold for 2 hours. We were also told that 95% of the time, refunds are not given. The looks on our faces, were not good upon receiving this news! The person behind the front desk said for an additional $140.00 per night, he could give us a suite. This would not include two queens, but instead would have a king bed with a pull out couch. We were not willing to pay an additional dime, for a hotel that was completely in need of being torn down. He than offered to move us to a quieter room away from the pool. We decided that it couldn't get worse, so we might as well. This time, we had to drive all the way around the back of the hotel to an area with no vehicles. Talk about the back 40! The outside door was not secure, and the key card was not necessary as it wasn't locked. Two staff members met us at the door with two roll away cots. The room was outdated, and still smelled strongly of chlorine. We were told that if a room with 2 queens became available for Saturday, they would allow us to switch rooms. Complaints about the room: Bathroom door stuck completely to the frame and always took several attempts to open, toilet flushed only if handle was held down for a really long time, multiple stains on bedding, walls, and carpet, roll away cot contained a huge spider, no refrigerator in the room, I could go on and on! Complaints about the hotel: Completely outdated, Ceilings in the hallway extremely low, game room contains 3 games only 1 of which actually work, (the other 2 just eat your quarters), paper signs everywhere that say you may not eat or drink in the hotel sitting areas, kids running up and down the hallways yelling and throwing footballs over the balconies, I could go on and on! Needless to say, we were not offered a different room for the second night. We had terrible sleep, as the cots were so hard, the kids tried to squeeze in with us. We feel as if we need a vacation after our vacation. This not only turns us off from the Holiday Inn in Livonia, but we would be very hesitant to stay at a Holiday Inn chain again. The icing on the cake, was a pair of hot pink ladies underwear thrown on the sidewalk as we packed up the car. I would rate this hotel no stars!!! We will contact hotels.com and let them know of our experience.

Below Par I was extremely disappointed with the Holiday Inn Hotel in Livonia, Michigan. It began with approaching the parking lot which looked like it was bombed during a war. While walking into the hotel to check in you are greeted with a smell from a musty basement. My mistake was prepaying for this hotel stay in order to save close to 20 bucks. I learned my lesson because if I didn't pay I would have easily walked out. I actually considered staying the night in my car. Room much smaller than other Holiday Inn's I have recently stayed at. Absolutely ZERO cell phone reception in room. I did not even consider the free breakfast. I felt dirty walking into the room and dirtier while I walked out. The decor of the room is beyond 2nd hand it's more like junk brought in from the alley. I will NEVER stay here again and strongly urge anyone who considers a stay here to keep away. NOT WORTH THE MONEY and shocked the Holiday Inn chain hangs their sign on this property.
