Oh it connected but didn’t work. I had business meetings etc to do and had to use data. Very expensive. Front desk was friendly. But don’t depend on the wifi

Highly Recommend Hilton Garden Inn/Mercer University to Explore Marvelous Macon, GA We greatly enjoyed spending the weekend at the Hilton Garden Inn/Mercer University in order to attend the Bat Mitzvah of family friends at a nearby synagogue with a 1.7 mile/37 minute walk. This hotel is beautiful, clean, comfortable, conveniently located with free parking, situated on the edge of the beautiful and charming Mercer University campus, and the hotel staff was very cheerful, professional and helpful in every way. Mr. Carlos Robinson at the front desk was especially friendly and very helpful making sure we were able to have a Shabbat friendly stay. I honestly wish we had another couple days here. Our walks to and from the local downtown synagogue Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon was beautiful and felt completely safe. The hotel is located on Stadium drive and it is just a 12 minute/.5 mile walk up the tree lined Stadium Drive to Mercer Village with Z Beans Cafe and neighborhood restaurants and shops. Beautiful and historic Tatnall Square Park is located just past Mercer Village between Adams and College Streets, and across the street from Mercer University. The gorgeous fountain in the center of the park is a definite must-see. If you walk about ten minutes down College Street (away from Mercer University and Tatnall Square Park) and turn right on Hardeman Avenue toward downtown you will also see some lovely shops and the famous H&H Restaurant the traditional southern food restaurant where the Allman Brothers Band frequently ate. I highly recommend stopping in to enjoy Bear's Books shop, Rabbit Hole art & gifts shop, and H&H Restaurant to see all of the music memorabilia there and the BEAUTIFUL Allman Brothers/H&H mural on the entire outside of H&H where there is free parking for patrons. The Douglass Theatre in downtown Macon is also a gorgeous, historic theatre with lots of interesting films and other events on their calendar. Macon, GA has so much music history, interesting architecture and a very walkable downtown full of beautiful shops, brew pubs and restaurants. If you have time visit Ocmulgee Mounds & Museum for free and save a moment to savor a sunset view of downtown Macon with a glass of wine/beer on Hotel 45's rooftop bar located on the corner of Cotton Avenue and First Street. The Hilton Garden Inn/Mercer University is a great and affordable place to stay anytime you want to treat yourself and your family and friends to a weekend in Macon, GA.

Has Gone Downhill We have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn near Mercer University in Macon before, and it was fine, but things have changed for the worse there. On the positive side, as a Hilton Diamond we were upgraded to a small suite. Also positive was the sat TV system, which has a lot of channels. Also, for those who like a morning hike, the Mercer campus nearby is very pleasant. But otherwise this turned out to be a somewhat depressing and low-value property. First, there is house keeping service only every other day. They don't change sheets, make the bed, clean up or even replace the towels. They claim this is "for the convenience" of guests and to be more environmentally responsible. Right, if you believe that I've got a deal for you on a bridge in Brooklyn. It is simply a way to reduce operating costs and put housekeepers out of work. Then there are the furnishings. In the three rooms our family booked, the furniture looked like it was scrounged from a college dormitory sale. Old, ratty and with a putrid green carpet. The whole property looks a little run down, like it doesn't have the cash to upgrade the property regularly as do other Hilton brands such as Hampton Inn. Included cooked-to-order breakfast for Gold and Diamond Hilton Honors members? No more. Instead there is a $10 per person (up to two persons per rooms) food and beverage credit. Doesn't sound bad, but the breakfast buffet is $16 plus tax and tip, so even Diamonds are going to be hit with a $20+ charge per couple per day for a third-rate buffet breakfast. Those who aren't elite Honors members or who save money by booking with a third party like Priceline will pay around $40 per couple for a buffet breakfast. Over Thanksgiving, this hotel was virtually empty, with almost no one eating the overpriced breakfast. This looks like a hotel that is just barely hanging on. There's a new all-suites hotel that's opened nearby, plus all the motels on I-75 North about 5 minutes away, so I suspect this property is suffering. Our bill for a room for two nights for two people came to over $400. Not worth it. Goodbye Hilton Garden Inn. Never again!

Meh Hotel overall didn't seem up to the standards of other Garden Inns that I've stayed at. It basically didn't have the feel of a Garden Inn. At check-in, there was no attendant at the check-in desk. I noted that she was at the bar area and didn't notice that I was there for a couple minutes. I noted this on a couple of occasions. Not a huge deal. But again, not typical of a Garden inn. The lighting in the bathroom was horrible. I was barely able to shave with the light. I'm not sure how women apply their makeup with such poor lighting.
