Not worth it I was required to stay here for work earlier this week. I stayed at the hotel approx 12 months ago and was disappointed to find it in pretty much the same tired state as last year so feedback has not been taken on board. The rooms were shabby with scuffed walls and frayed carpets. The aircon in the room did not work making an uncomfortably hot nights sleep. The key swipe card on the door was loose. I raised it with reception to be informed there was no maintenance and they wouldn’t be able to change rooms… overall I think this hotel is worth approx £45 per night. If you’ve been quoted more, I’d stay elsewhere. The breakfast was good still however.

Very poor hotel and experience After a long drive we arrived to be told that we could not check into our room until 3pm (it was just before 2pm), unless we wanted to pay an additional c£10 fee. Yet another attempt to get more money out of you, but will prevent us using them again. It just leaves a bad taste. This then created a big que of people waiting to check in at 3pm when we returned. The hotel itself it’s very dated particularly the rooms. We ended up having to switch room as the a/c was not working. Note: they were asking people to provide reviews on check in, and receive a few glass of bubbly. This is before people saw the rooms. So I would not trust the rating.

The worst customer service! I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Mercure Hotel Manchester was absolutely appalling. I had made a reservation through Booking.com, and when I encountered an issue, I reached out to the hotel directly hoping for a bit of understanding or assistance. Unfortunately, what I received instead was indifference, lack of empathy, and a complete refusal to help. The staff made it abundantly clear they weren’t interested in resolving anything. I was passed around, given vague responses, and ultimately told it wasn’t their problem—despite the booking being for their hotel! They made no effort to contact Booking.com on my behalf, offer a solution, or even express a hint of courtesy. It was all shrugged off like I was just another nuisance. I understand policies and third-party platforms can complicate things, but basic customer service shouldn’t be optional. A good hotel would want to help its future guests, especially when they’re trying to clarify or fix a reservation. This experience left a really bitter taste. I will not be staying at a Mercure Hotel again, and I’ll be advising others to think twice before doing so. If you value even the slightest bit of customer support, go elsewhere.

Not over whelmed Room was very good - the experience was ok, I couldn’t understand the gentlemen on the front desk as he spoke so low, the room was excellent, bed was massive and comphy, shower was excellent and well worth the money but breakfast let it down, eggs, mushroom cold, bacon tasted funny but the beans where hot !
