Hotel Playa Mazatlan

The Total Solar Eclipse I will always stay at the Hotel Playa Mazatlan. Once again this hotel exceeded my expectations. My deluxe ocean view room had in my opinion the best view of Mazatlán. Most of the staff knows me by name and I consider them my friends. The restaurants and entertainment are unmatched and this hotel is my favorite anywhere. I am looking forward to my stay in October. All that I have to say is wow!

12 months to get my refund I booked a room at this hotel, which I canceled within 24 hours. It has been 3 months since I made the reservation, and I have still not received a refund. I was just told it will now take 12 months (1 year!!!) ... to get my refund. Total scammers Beware

Beautiful Clean Place To Say The Hotel is kept very clean. All staff are friendly and speak some English. Very willing to help and serve you with anything you may need. I loved my room which I chose to upgrade. I had a beautiful view of the city and the Bay. I would have rated the Hotel a 5 but for the dreadful noise. From 5:30 am until roughly 6:00 pm there is a horrible bird sound which last 20 seconds, is quiet for 15 seconds and then sounds again. ALL day long. It is a recorded sound to discourage birds from hanging out at the Hotel. It took me a couple of days to realize it was not a real bird & confirmed by staff. That & the constant, I mean constant, “band” on the beach. They do not move along. They just stay, and there’s more than one trying to out do each other or drown out the Hotel entertainment. The Hotel entertainment was very good. That noise though, was not enjoyable and really should be somehow controlled by the Hotel so there are breaks from constant performing & constant bird noise. I don’t know if that is possible but I would recommend they control those noises. It was not restful or peaceful which is what I was looking for on my vacation. Love the rocking chairs out front. I suggest first time visitors check out the restaurant choices & times the first day they arrive or they will miss out on the Speciality Restaurants.

NEVER AGAIN! Held a family party that included 24 rooms plus venue. Checkout was chaos they kept DEPOSIT; their interest is not in customer satisfaction. Would not recommend for venues, parties, or weddings. Spoke to management and he was the most unethical in hospitality that I have ever dealt with. After spending 30k USD they didn't care they had their money which seems that was the only important thing to this hotel. Will never return. Stay away if you don't want to deal with incompetent management and petty politics.

Amazing Hotel This is our second time staying at this hotel and we will always go back it has not been a disappointment. If you go to Mazatlan you go to listen to the live bands because that is part of the culture and customs in Mazatlan. So be ready to hear them playing by the beach all day (Mainly why we chose this hotel). Mazatlan is a place to have a good fun time with the bands so be ready for some noise. The Hotel is in an amazing location, you are just a couple blocks from the MAZATLAN Letters and downtown. We walked a lot because most places we wanted to go eat or check out were close. The staff is super friendly very accommodating and very always checking up on you in case you need something. All the restaurants are amazing, the shows are fantastic, I have seen all of them and my kids love them all. (Just remember to make your reservation). The food is great, buffet always has something for everyone, just make sure to explore your options. To my taste, the mixed drinks could be a bit stronger, but they are still good. The rooms are spacious we have always got a beach view room because we enjoy the sunsets and the loud music from the beach. (If you don't, please choose something like a garden or pool view). The hotel has 5 pools, and they are super spread-out, so they never feel crowded. The hotel is big so even though there might be a lot of people it doesn't feel crowded other than during breakfast. I also noticed that most of if not all the staff speak decent English and I think that is pretty amazing they really make everyone feel welcome, even during the shows they speak in English to encourage the whole audience to participate. We also always choose this hotel for its handicap accessibility. I have a physical disability and mobility is an issue for me but here I can into the pools, restaurants, and bar all by myself. There are even some handicap-reserved tables close up to the beach and a ramp that takes you straight into the sand. The only thing I have a recommendation for is probably the bathrooms and them being handicap accessible. (but this is a problem all across Mexico not just at the hotel) Overall, this Hotel is my favorite and my kids love it! We had an amazing 7-day stay, with no issues or problems. :)
