Great stay in Midland We were greeted on arrival by Helen at the front desk who was so gracious and welcoming. Her sweet manner set a positive tone for our entire stay. In fact, the entire team at this Hampton Inn was happy and always helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay. I've stayed at this Hampton Inn a few times in recent years, and while each of those times was great, this trip was the best ever. Sweet people.

Under renovation Straight off I want to mention the lower rating has nothing to do with the staff! The receptionist was just great and friendly as I would expect at a Hampton Inn. There is a sign "Under Renovation" so perhaps this contributed to the lower quality than what I'm used to having at a Hampton Inn or HHonors facility. It wasn't any one thing but a combination of items that lead me to give a 3 out of 5. First off there was a strong perfume smell in the halls, elevator, and rooms. It's the kind of perfume smell usually used to hide things that are not clean. This didn't give a good impression right off, but we were only staying one night in-route to Fort Bliss Tx. It was very humid in the room and adjusting the thermostat didn't make this better. In the morning there was no ice in the machines, and the breakfast was so-so. I would have paid more to stay in the other Hampton Inn in Midland, Texas if I had known ahead of time. So my recommendation is to stay somewhere else until the renovations are completed. Again, the staff were friendly and nice....I did not leave any complaint with them as I'm not usually the complaining type.

Dirty Hotel- rennovate don’t just mask- customers deserve better This hotel has really gotten disappointing- have stayed here last 5 times I was in town over last three years- but this was the last time Bathtubs are dirty- saw what looked to be black mildew in bathtub- faucets were rotted out- they are remodeling but slapping paint over the old is not a true renovation- we pay over $150 a night. Sad part is staff is usually nice and manager tried to move us three different times just to get us a clean bathtub but just didn’t exist. Housecleaning came in to clean every other day on my request but they didn’t even change the sheets- when we pulled back we could still see our hair and and etc- what is the purpose of saying you are gonna clean if you really aren’t- I will not recommend to any of my family to stay here -third floor hallways feel Ike there are cracks in the middle of the hallways like there are structural issuesHilton should shut it down for the renovations and truly rennovate it- not just mask over the old - there isn’t enough paint to cover this old hotel any longer- Won’t stay there again!!

Horrible mattress We've stayed at this hotel previously but we won't be back unless they replace the mattresses. It was fine otherwise although the staff seems mostly bored. The sign on the bathroom mirror says housekeeping is o lying on request but we cam back after the first night to discover housekeeping had come. Normally that would be great, but we always put away our stuff when we know housekeeping is coming AND we leave a tip. We also would have made it clear to remove the towels we used since there isn't enough room to hang them all to dry. Why say there's no housekeeping unless requested then do the opposite? The worst was the mattress. My back now constantly hurts and I don't have back problems. Hope they get new mattresses soon.
