Holiday Inn Express Monterey-Cannery Row by IHG

Location location Stayed here week of 5/12-5/17. The location is awesome- walking distance to shops, restaurants, beach. Gorgeous views! Now onto the hotel. Modern and clean lobby. Above average tasting free breakfast. 24/7 free coffee and tea in lobby. Water bottle filling station in lobby. This is a unique Holiday Inn express- motel style layout. You will be exposed to the outdoors getting from lobby to your room. And apparently Northern California is still cold (in May)! The room we got was spacious, updated, clean. However the windows are old and drafty blew in cold air mornings, thankfully the heat turned on. every noise from outside -cars on the street and fellow hotel guests could be heard inside (yes even at 3am). New windows and better sound proofing/insulation needed. Overall it was a good stay due to aforementioned positives. However due to the negatives probably would not pick this hotel for more than 1-2 night stay.

Worse and scary experience, shady business . Rude and unhelpful managers (Jose J and Sanjay) when the situation arises and that too not your fault. Their strategy is to blame you and bring you down.The housekeeping at this hotel illegally entered and emptied our room despite do not disturb sign. We were not even checked out at the time at 10 AM and and when we returned back from our morning walk, all the stuff from our room was cleaned out and the door was left wide open. The first excuse from front desk was that housekeeper does not speak english. Upon digging, it gets more disturbing that despite checking with front desk that we have not checked out Yesenia (housekeeper, who is also who is also the floor lead) still cleaned out our room. This is despite we didn't check out yet (check out time is at 12noon and this happened around 10:30am). We were made to feel like nothing and our concern and privacy din't matter. We haven't even made sure if we missed anything. We asked for the manager on duty and was told that Sanjay (MOD) has refused to talk and will have us talk to the manager Jose Jeronimo the Hotel manager on Monday and we have to wait for that. We asked instead of us chasing him, if he can call which he did not. Long story short he hung the phone on us after blaming us that their towels were missing and asked for his manager’s contact. When I told him that that is why we make video before we check out which we were not able to avoid his little cheap games, he was flabbergasted. Jose you are a shame for hospitality industry by sitting on the manager position. No one is interested in your cheap quality towels, and this is coming after receptionist made sure with housekeeper yesterday that everything is good from our side and got our receipt at checkout. Jose your cheap mind game should have repercussion.

Great Staff This is not your usual HIX. Great location with easy walking distance to Cannery Row and the Warf. We are a corporate jet flight crew and stay here often. Its our "go to" choice. The highlight of this stay was the front desk girl. She was helpful and had plenty of recommendations.

Typical Holiday Inn, great location. Hotel is pretty standard for an IHG. Location is great. Free parking in their garage with elevators to all floors. I do have to say that this hotel might not be the best for people with issues with stairs. We stayed on the 3rd floor and had to go up and down a few set of stairs to get to our room. If youre lugging a lot of bags or with someone older might not be that ideal. Im sure the hotel would put you on a lower floor if an issue. No mentions of upgrades, me being IHG diamond, or any perks like some of the other Holiday Inns give you. Water pressure wasnt that great in the shower but the beds were cozy. Location is great. If youre looking at location and want to be on the main strip i'd say stay at the intercontinental since its on the water but from the Holiday inn we were able to walk every where comfortably. Even encountered some deer while walking back from the pub one night. Overall good hotel.

Great Hotel and centrally located to Cannery Row After spending a day at the aquarium and cannery row, this was a perfect place to stay for the night. Centrally located to cannery row and lots of places eat dinner. Rooms were clean and the beds were very soft and comfortable. The front desk staff was excellent and very professional. He was very welcoming and pleasant. Highly recommend this hotel and will stay again when in the area.
