Holiday Inn Express New Albany - Louisville NW by IHG

Great location, but needs work Despite the website description, this hotel did not feel “new” at all. The public areas and elevator were not clean, the window shade would not raise and the air conditioning unit was very noisy. The bathroom should have been cleaner. We have stayed at other HIX locations that were not like this.

Decent stay Staff at front desk were okay but not over welcoming. Hotel room was nice. Beds were very comfy. Pool was extremely cold, had a smell to it, very gross scum around the edge of the entire pool and no towels. Breakfast was okay- pancake maker was broke most of the time, they would make it work for one and then would quit again. Entire time there the juice was out and needed a refill, tables never got wiped down- breakfast area needed attention.

Nice hotel, however . . . Nice hotel and conveniently located. Pleasant and accommodating staff. Haphazard housekeeping forgetting to leave drinking cups and coffee pods necessitated a trip downstairs every day for supplies that housekeeping forgot. Also, their website states no firearms allowed in the building. This carries no force of law and, in fact, Indiana’s attorney general confirms that it is legal to carry a gun into any property other than those which the law specifies; i.e. jails, courthouses, federal government offices, etc. Holiday Inn is under the naïve impression that this notice will keep criminals with bad intent away from their property.

Remodel is in full swing! The crew is working hard on Reno of this hotel. Many areas and finishes are just stunning. The service at the desk was great and Michelle did a fantastic job of keeping the breakfast bar clean and stocked. She was right there to wipe down tables for the next guests and made sure everyone had whatever they needed. She also had helpful advice for our visit. The only downside I noticed in the bathroom even though the tile and countertop looked new; the sink drain was very slow and also the shower. We put a hand towel in the bathtub to take a shower because it was extremely slippery! Looks like it has been refinished and is a real hazard! Not sure if the bathroom remodel is complete because the paint although it looked fairly fresh it was showing cracks and orange peeling. There was also black (mold or dirt) on the upper wall behind the door by the shower. Overall the stay was great, comfortable beds, an assortment of pillows to choose from (some of the towels seemed to have stains) no bugs in sight and quite even though there were youth baseball teams in residence. Once again I have to give credit to the breakfast team for keeping up.

Stay here Very nice hotel, rooms are neat and clean. Staff is awesome! They are super friendly and extremely willing to help. They went out of their way. I would stay there again just because of the people. Breakfast was good, typical breakfast offerings but very fresh and well cooked. If you are near the area definitely stay there. Close to the downtown area with plenty of restaurants.
