Great stay for 1st trip back to NYC This was my first visit back to NYC since December of 2019. Previously, I am in NYC at least 4 times a year. I like this location and am always looking for Hilton properties. The Conrad is my fave but was unavailable for this trip. This location is perfect for my purposes. You did need to use your keycard day and night to get in the building (which I had no problem with). The room was not cleaned (as is standard at most hotels right now). I was a guest for 4 nights and this was fine. They were very good about collecting garbage that people had placed (bagged) in the hallway. I appreciate the small store that is in all Hilton Garden Inns. There was water, candy, soda, snacks and wine for sure. Probably more. I don't always want to run to a corner store when I just want a Smart Water or whatever. My room was good sized for NYC. Again, I like this hotel and there is soooooo much to do within a 10 minute walk in terms of shops and restaurants.

Shoddy hotel in a good location I love the location of the hotel - close to SoHo, the West Side Highway and the financial district. It’s location, though, is offset by the underwhelming service, amenities and rooms. First of all, forget that your Hilton status matters. It is not acknowledged at any point of the stay. I have stayed at this property twice and the same front desk staff has failed to greet me or thank me for being Diamond with the program. Along with this, and aside from free water, I had to ask for my benefits, including the free breakfast (more on this in a bit). I was also surprised that none of the front desk staff wear masks. Though it’s not mandated by law, most service establishments in NYC ask their staff to mask up. Not at this HGI apparently. The rooms are another thing - they are small and not well done. The TVs don’t really work - besides the local NY channels, everything is shown as “signal not available” and it’s an issue the hotel hasn’t fixed in a few months. I know that this is Manhattan and you can’t expect very spacious rooms, but just up the street, the Courtyard has much better, more modern and thoughtfully designed accommodations. For the lone Tribeca property in its portfolio, Hilton could do better. Breakfast is fulfilled by a company called Butler. You get a menu and some coupons (if Gold or Diamond) and you are told to order via their site 20-30 min in advance of eating. Out of the 6 total nights I have spent at this hotel, I only managed to get this breakfast on time once. All other times, I had to call customer service from Butler and on at least one occasion I never received the food. So, if you keep a schedule, you may want to opt for a non-hotel breakfast option. Finally, the new policy from Hilton is that there is no daily housekeeping provided. While it’s not a personal peeve, this will definitely put some people off. I think that this HGI needs to step up it’s game.

Old and run down rooms Rooms were old and run down. Not very clean. Hallways did not have air condition. Hotel needs an update. Great location and area. I would recommend the location but not impressed with the accommodations.
