Best Value in Midtown Clean, highly efficient, safe and relatively quiet neighborhood, exemplary service from the front desk and housekeeping. Proximity to Grand Central a big plus. Certainly not luxury and the rooms are tiny, but best value for the price in Midtown by far (and I’ve stayed at many).

We loved it! This was such a good place for the price! Seriously so happy that something like this exists. Clean, safe, and comfortable while also being affordable. We came for my friends 30th birthday and have no regrets on choosing Pod 39

Hostel Pricing with Incredible Service, Amenities & Facilities I was incredibly surprised by how pleasant my stay was at pod 39! I had anticipated more of a hostel vibe because of the very reasonable price (just over $100 per night for a solo full room w/ private bath). But don’t be fooled: this is more similar to a hotel in many ways, particularly with the incredible service! Yes, there are some units that share bathrooms, but the rooms themselves are very luxurious compared to any hostel I’ve ever stayed in. They even offer daily comp housekeeping service. I checked in very early on my arrival day and the front desk was happy to store my bags and said they’d shoot me a text or call as soon as the room was ready. I ended up grabbing a bite to eat from the bodega at the corner and hanging out of their very comfy lobby chairs. Within an incredibly short amount of time, the front desk agent who stored my bags walked over to me to personally let me know my room was ready & used my name to greet me. I say that so specifically because I’ve worked for FORBES rated properties that didn’t fulfill that criteria, meanwhile this hotel is blowing it out of the water. Not only that, but they also upgraded me to a queen bed so I could get in earlier and get some rest. I wish I recalled the front desk agent’s name, he was so kind and deserves recognition! My stay was very comfortable and didn’t have any noise issues with other guests or the street below, even with me being on a lower floor. At one point my heater began to rattle, and the front desk immediately sent the kindest maintenance man ever. He made sure to stick around until he found the source of the noise and tightened it up. The staff checked in on me via text multiple times to make sure all was well. They also generously gave a 2pm late checkout, as it was available on my day of departure. WiFi was great, had no issue working remote & using the desk setup in the room. The hotel has a bar and Italian restaurant, plus a rooftop. I never made it up there during my stay but I’ll definitely have it on my list next time I come in the warmer months. There’s plenty of other dining in the vicinity, I mostly hit up to-go spots but I saw some great looking sit down places, too. All in all, you can’t beat this location and price, especially with this level of service. You’re within a very reasonable walk of anywhere in midtown Manhattan: Times Square, Broadway, Madison square garden, Penn and grand central stations, Bryant park, and so on. I was able to walk to my company’s office in Murray Hill, a broadway show with some friends, drinks and apps at the flat iron room, a bakery near Times Square, and to the CUTEST permanent jewelry place (Endearest Charm Bar) in the diamond district all without any issue. My tips for the area: Venice cafe’s staff are all wonderful and fun to connect with. Great deli food, they have most anything you can think of and are open 24/7 (except a few hours on Sunday nights). If you like cats, 39 deli up the street (turn right when leaving the hotel) has a very professional tabby cat manager named Cato. Didn’t try their deli food but with that kitty in charge I’m sure it’s fire. Bagel express had a great pancake breakfast. CVS is just a few blocks up for any misc. items you may need. The hotel’s front desk also accepts Amazon, uber and Instacart orders which you can pick up from them.
