So much better than a hotel stay. We needed a 2-night stay in Augusta while apartment shopping with my daughter. I had planned to get a hotel room, but stumbled across the listing for Lookaway Inn online. I am so glad we stayed here. It made a working trip feel like a mini-vacation. It was so nice to return at the end of the day to the beautiful house, courtyard, and grounds. Made-to-order breakfast was great. John & Mary are wonderful hosts. Location is convenient to downtown and easy access to the interstate.

July Stay Stayed two nights in the Laurel Rm on the courtyard. Was told these rooms were added to the property in the 1990s. At first glance the room looked great. It was large with big windows and nicely furnished with antique/vintage furniture. However, once settled in for the night I found it was in need of updates/repairs. Bed was very hard and leaned to one side, toilet ran all night and flushed itself (was asked to just turn valve off at night), water from cold tap at sink came out very warm (other tap was hot), wallpaper was peeling and there were water stains on ceiling of bathroom, temperature control was shared with room next door and ended up too warm for my comfort, and little insulation between floors (heavy-footed clumping from guest upstairs late at night). Was a little surprised that the common rooms in the main house were not accessible after 5-6 pm. The good: Great location for my needs, very friendly hostess, appreciated the eggs made to order in the morning (rest of breakfast was typical cold continental choices). After reading the great reviews prior to my stay I was a bit disappointed. Not sure if all the rooms were similar.

Look no further! The Lookaway was nothing short of spectacular. The building is historic, unique and very well kept. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Most importantly, John the innkeeper took care of everything we needed, including eggs to order in the morning. The Lookaway was the highlight of our motorcycle trip!

Loved it Inn keeper was nice and friendly. We loved the room and atmosphere. We were the only ones there. The places looks a little spooky. Hey it was built in 1900s. The place looks great at night. The mansion itself is a walk back in time. We would stay there again

Beautiful B&B, some updates needed We stayed here for my nephews wedding. It a gorgeous property, however in need of some updates. We stayed in room 215/magnolia king suite. Room was very large and antique furniture was a nice touch. However, the mattress and bed needs updating. Very uncomfortable and felt like we were sleeping on a hard wooden floor. Breakfast was ok, and staff was very nice.
