LaQuinta gets mixed reviews across the United States, this one is marginal I have been traveling this stretch of road from Minnesota to Colorado for more than 50 years now. North Platte has really changed over the years including a great hospital, dog park and lots of new hotels. Two of these hotels, Tru by Hilton and LaQuinta, are right up on the freeway. They both take dogs. There is also a pretty good assortment of other hotels just north of Interstate 80 on Highway 83 in North Platte. It seems whenever you stay at LaQuinta lately it's a roll of the dice: either they are inexpensive luxury or an inexpensive mess. Since Tru by Hilton was built at the east entrance of North Platte, I have been staying there as I travel with my dog and the floors and surfaces are all engineered wood, not carpet. My dog has never had an issue in any hotel. At LaQuinta, I arrived to a nice parking lot with plenty of room; there is also a cheap gas station right across from the parking lot so you can get ready to go in the morning without much bother. I recall that this LaQuinta is fairly new and was probably built in the last few years, about the same time as the Tru property was built. When I went to check in, there was nobody at the counter, but he quickly appeared. The front desk was a mysterious place while I was there; when I took my dog out for a walk later in the evening the front desk guy was sitting outside the whole time I was out there. Later, when I came back in another time, a pit bull suddenly appeared looking over the counter at my dog who was looking at the treats and then the lady came out from the back and said he was harmless. In the morning, at check out time, nobody at the counter, but the familiar "ring bell for service" sign was up. These aren't exactly service misses, but kinda strange. The carpets on second floor in front of the elevator are very heavily soiled. A cat or something ripped up the chair in my room and the bathroom had the old ten tubes of caulk all over the place from the shower leaking around the shower curtain. Breakfast was the normal and the guy who was watching it was super nice and helpful. The whole stay was about $50 less than Tru and they did not charge me for my dog. I had trouble opening and closing my door and it took a few tries every time as the latch was sticky; it took me a while to get the hang of it. The person who wrote their review a couple before this one is exactly right; it's fine if you have a pet, but I would not have been very happy if I didn't have my dog. It does, by the way, have a huge field behind it and sidewalks for dog walking. I would probably move up a few dollars and stay at the Hampton or Candlewood Suites if I didn't have a pet with me. I also have had no complaints about the Tru by Hilton, next to this property.

For pet lovers only If you like pets or have pets, you will most likely like this hotel. If you are allergic to pets, you will smell pets every where. The hotel staff say they do their very, very best to clean each room after receiving guests with pets, but we all know how hard it is to clean smells even with heavy chemicals. The fact is that all the rooms can receive pets. Additionally, the hotel is pricey to the quality it offers. There are many areas that need repairs, and the furniture is a quite dingy. Neither my wife nor I wanted to shower as the floor of the bathtub was covered in rust colored smears.

Mixed feelings We’ve stayed here several times over the years and typically had a great stay. This time was a little different. Things seemed run down which we later learned that they’ll be remodeling the entire hotel. We love the pet friendly option as we travel with our dog. However, this time we heard a dog barking all through the night. Kitchen/breakfast staff was very friendly and sweet. She was on top of everything. There’s plenty of grassy areas for dog walking and an enclosed area too. Indoor pool is a great size.

Very friendly Great staff. Love the pet friendly set up. Check in was easy. All the staff really seemed to enjoy working there. Breakfast was a friendly environment. Even the guest were interacting with each other. Will definitely be back again.
