Hilton Garden Inn Detroit/Novi

Location is everything! We stayed here while attending a Michigan game. The location is great. About 30 minutes to the airport and about 30 minutes to The Big House, if you give yourself enough time. Food options, shopping, and entertainment all within a reasonable walk or drive. We were able to walk across the street to shop and eat. Parking is great with lots of spaces. We felt safe and comfortable. The staff is nice enough. They pretty much leave you alone unless you ask for something. No artificial greetings or fake smiles. But the Hilton Garden Inn Novi needs a thorough cleaning, paint, grout removal and replacement in the bathrooms and all new flooring. The carpets are badly stained both in the room we had and in the hallways. The elevators are dingy and could use a good polishing. There were always pieces of paper and wrappers and such on the floor in the common areas. At 2:00 in the morning someone’s unruly children were running up and down the hallways yelling. On one occasion I went to the lobby and this time unsupervised teenagers were in the dining area with their feet/shoes on top of the table where folks have to eat. This was easily correctable by the front desk. There were plenty of couches with ottomans for this purpose. I do not understand other reviews that mention how clean this place is as that was not my experience. While not filthy, it definitely needs an overhaul and refreshing. Would I stay here again in the near future? It is likely. Would I stay here again within a year or two? Most likely not as I can see the hotels problems with cleanliness going downhill unless they make some tweaks.

Clean hotel, convenient location Back at the hotel, which has a convenient location and it is clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast is a convenient option to have. The rooms do not have a safety deposit box, which would be really convenient to have, as expected in a hotel of this caliber.

A very pleasant stay After a very disappointing stay at a Hampton Inn the previous night, I wanted a nice hotel, and this fit the bill. Hilton Garden Inns generally have very nice, welcoming lobbies, and this was no exception. Our room wasn't overly large, but it was comfortable and the bathroom had been updated with a large, walk-in shower. There was both a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Breakfast was excellent, and, as Gold members, our food credit covered most of the cost. I have this a 4-star rating, only because there was nothing luxurious about the hotel; however, it was a very pleasant stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again, were I in the area.

Great conference experience I had a wonderful experience with the Hilton Garden Inn. I came for a conference and needed some accommodations as a nursing mother who needed space to pump several times throughout the day. Ms. Jess at the front desk was an absolute angel. She helped facilitate some exchanges of materials while I was in the conference to my childcare providers, and always greeted us with a smile and positivity. Thank you!

Bug Bites Galore! Wow, where do I start? The staff at check in was nice, but that was about it. Our room smelled like funky body odor, the room felt dated with a small television and somewhat unclean for a Hilton hotel, the exercise room was unkempt, the coffee in the lobby was out every single time we were leaving the hotel for the day (and this was at 7:30am every morning), and we received several bug bites on our bodies from the room, from our faces to our feet. When we notified the hotel staff and showed them the bites, they never apologized, and they just agreed to at least “look into it” after our suggestion that they do so…. that was it. Disappointing, especially coming from a Hilton hotel.
