Great location but some other concerns We struggled to get to the hotel car park given Oxford's labyrinthine road network and restrictions and ended up parking 5 minutes away in a public car park - easy enough. This is simply a result of the hotel having a great, central location - very close to the Botanic Gardens and the centre of town. Our stay was a bit of a mixed bag though. The public rooms are quite smart and while the rooms are ok; they are pretty dark with small windows that barely open. The fact the windows don't open is the real issue though - with no aircon the rooms get really hot. There appears to be the plumbing for aircon but for whatever reason it is not working. We had breakfast in the hotel both days and it was pretty average - reasonable spread of cold items, cereals and some fruit but the hot buffet was pretty unappetising. The staff in the dining room at breakfast were also very poor - disinterested and not particularly helpful. By way of contrast the lady on the front desk was great as was the gentleman in the bar. Would we stay again? Possibly but we would not have breakfast in the hotel (plenty of options in cafes etc nearby) and would be careful about staying here in the height of Summer given the aircon issues.

Fine spot, some noisy rooms This hotel is located in a charming spot on High Street at the edge of the old town. There are two types of rooms: those directly on High Street and those in the side street, at the back, or in the annex. At reception, we were assigned a room on High Street and were woken up several times in the middle of the night by buses (there is a bus stop right in front) and cheerful people. Fortunately, for the second night, we were given a room in the quiet annex, which was arranged very quickly. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was fine. Overall, my rating is 3, due to the disturbed first night.

Easy stay in central Oxford Great central location on a quiet side road. Comfy bed and spacious bathroom with plenty of basic products. Good variety available at breakfast regularly topped up. Would recommend for the convenience of being close to all the main sites.

Too hot in the summer. I have never encountered a chain hotel without an air conditioning unit in the bedroom before. Unbearably too hot to sleep (July). Breakfast ok. Location excellent.
