Stay over for the train depot tours It’s convenient to the Palestine Railroad Depot/Polar Express. One plus that is not mentioned in the property description, there is a tram style bus that has a daily shuttle for departures/returns of the train. The staff in all departments seemed friendly and available. The breakfast was excellent and they use the automatic pancake maker. Beds were good and the rooms were clean. The minuses: carpet and furniture were very dated. There obvious holes and damaged walls with amateurish repairs. Smoking is not allowed in the pool area. Ice is only available on the first floor. It took 5 days before the damage/incidental surcharge was credited back to my card.

Awful I have a service dog and they charged me a 100 pet fee then demanded to know why I needed the service dog. Wanted me to show paperwork from a doctor then proceeded to tell me I’m not actually sick because they looked at the cameras and I don’t look sick. They also accused me of vaping in the room and were very rude about it.

mold I am a DAV 80% w/asthma so when walk into room it was heavy mold smell. plus black mold around tub/shower. sprayed alcohol into return air to clean room. help. plus inhaler. Noticed next morn white spots on head board. apparently some alcohol's drops floated to headboard leaving white spots they charge $175 to refinish head board. NOTHING to reimburse me for going to doc to get meds for asthma attack. Its they don/t care about DAV's. So calling for boycott of this place by all DAV's VFW.s and American Legionaries. breakfast had room full of workers who needed right guard badly first thing in morning BO at breakfasts.

ADA Rooms Need Upgrades Immediately A friend & I stayed at this Holiday Inn last weekend. We had requested an ADA room but, oh, what a major disappointment. First of all, let me say that Stacey at the front desk was most helpful and as accommodating as possible. The ADA rooms need to be upgraded immediately to be in compliance with the ADA Accessible Design requirements. There may not be a legal compulsion to be in compliance, but IHG seriously needs to consider their ADA rooms. The one we were in wasn't good at all. First of all, there was a bathtub. If someone is in a wheelchair by themselves, how do they get into the tub? There was a "seat" in the tub that kind of folded out, but it was weak and to sit on it was almost like a cheap carnival ride. The hand held shower head, was ok, but no handrails on the outside wall to hold onto when stepping out of the tub. Also, nothing on the bottom of the tub to prevent falling. The bottom of the tub was slippery. The toilet seat was too low to the ground and wiggled when you sat on it and got up. According to ADA government rules, the toilet needs to be at least 17" from the floor. It definitely was not. We asked for another room but were told there wasn't one available....until the last night of our stay. One of the best things about this hotel was the breakfast. So many great choices and REAL bacon, not the microwave stuff or bacon in it's own grease. Lots of bread choices, a pancake maker, oatmeal....just one of the best breakfasts in a hotel that I've experienced, including Marriott hotels, and I travel a lot. The ladies who did the breakfast did a very good job. Kudos to them. The hotel is clean & in a good location. Please, IHG, upgrade your ADA rooms to comply with government standards.

Rude front desk The older lady at the front desk this morning was rude! She asked about breakfast and I told her todays was okay but yesterday was awful. Her only comment was “I wasn’t here and that’s why”. No apology or offer to look into the situation!! Yesterday breakfast was cold, day old, cold decaf coffee, ran out of potatoes at 7:45 am and attendant shrugged and didn’t care. Today was better (except nasty gravy). Room was clean and comfy but won’t stay again due to rudeness.
