Still a long way to go to improve it Econo lodge— I don’t expect much from EconoLodge and use it when we have to knowing that it is very basic, but it’s a bed and bathroom. This one is pretty tired and worn, although I can see that they are trying. We were visiting friends in Palm Coast and decided to stay near by not wanting to travel after our visit. As it was the Daytona 500 weekend, most hotels in Palm Coast were booked solid for weeks in advance. The EconoLodge even called us to make sure that we were actually going to come since we hadn’t checked in by 5 pm. EconoLodge rooms all open to the outside and second floor rooms are all walk-up. The cons— --When we arrived about 6:45, our room was not yet ready. I think it was normally used by long-term stay people. They literally had the cabinet outside that holds the refrigerator and were scrubbing it. —The bathroom--We were told they had just caulked the toilet and not to use it until 8:30 that night to give it a chance to dry. Even so, it still didn't flush properly, in spite of holding down the handle until everything goes down, the paper floats back up. The toilet lid does not fit properly (see photo). The new caulking around the tub was already cracking. The vent fan was not connected. The bathroom door handle is oxidized. --The furniture is worn (see photos), the chair uncomfortable as the padding is gone. --The microwave was missing (the maid apologized and said they were short about 6 or 7 that were broken). --No coffee maker in the room, even though we had cups and there was supposed to be one (no coffee maker, no supplies for it). —No blanket, only a sheet and thin cotton bedcover. --No breakfast, not even continental, and the lobby was blocked off (both probably due to COVID), leaving only the registration desk. --While there is internet, it is slow and you technically have to sign in, but it is not secure. —I bent down to plug in a device in a corner outlet only to be met with the odor of pee from a previous animal occupant. The Pros— --The fridge was big and worked, including a freezer compartment. Most new ones are only refrigerator and no way to refreezes your blue ice. --The floor has recently been replaced with new vinyl planking. It was pretty clean (the sink counter had something stuck on it, but it was difficult to tell because of the pattern on it, so I can see how it was missed.) --There’s a Cracker Barrel across the street so we could get meals easily. But be aware that with 4 motels/hotels in the area, it is often busy. --The bed was firm and comfortable (which counts bonus points for me) In the end— We paid for a king-sized bed and ended up with 2 doubles on the second floor. We reserved the room through the Choice hotels website 6 days in advance using our membership number, not through a third-party. The manager on duty said it came into their system as doubles and that all their kings had been sold out a while ago, even though my confirmation email said King. When my husband was checking out, explaining all the amenities that were missing ( room not ready, unreliable toilet, no coffee, no microwave, no king bed, no blanket), he was unwilling to reduce the price at all. Unfortunately due to the Daytona race, he was able to charge, probably double the usual rate, and we had to pay over $211 with the tax. The Choice hotels website states that we “may” receive a Customer Satisfaction Survey after our stay. Needless to say, we did not get one. They state that it is to receive only verifiable reviews from real customers. I am sending this review to headquarters as well as posting it. I think next time, we stay further away.

TERRIFYING!!! Not safe!!! Had a guy come up to me outside my room no shirt, no teeth and beer in hand at 10am told me he was the manager and has key to my room and has been in there when I'm gone. He described things I had in my room. I left immediately!! Went to office owners wife said he's not the manager but does live and work there and doesn't have access to keys. He is always with maintenance man who does have access to rooms.

One of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. It was super late and so we just pulled up what was in there area. The Econo Lodge pulled up for us and it was very affordable. I now know why. Upon arrival there was mold all over our bathroom mirror and on the bathroom walls. There was multiple roaches running around our sink. We booked 2 nights. We slept the first night because it was 3 am. Upon awakening we left and asked for a refund for the second night as we were leaving (we are still waiting for the refund by the way) Not worth the inexpensive fare. Just stay anywhere else.

Nasty The room was filthy and had roaches. There were also wet patches on the floor in random spots (like behind the nightstand). We left after about 5 minutes of being there and I'm still waiting for my refund.

Place should be closed down! This place should be closed down. Room 123!!!! Room smelled like old wood furniture. Didn’t realize till the morning that we had mold up the bathroom wall. Asked for a non smoking room and got charged for a smoking room. Random people roaming back and forth in front of rooms. Think they house homeless there. “Stay Away”!!!
