A well-run, spotless budget hotel I stayed one night while on a motorcycle trip at this well-run budget hotel a short walk from the South Dakota Capitol. Check -in was smooth and I must have looked thirsty because the guy staffing the front desk grabbed two chilled bottles of water without me asking. Nice touch. I like the solid surface flooring in the room. It just feels cleaner than decade(s) old carpet like some places. The room had a fresh updated vibe to it. A few nits I would pick would be only two small older bath towels, seriously. Also the blackout blind in room 141 doesn't go all the way down. The parking lot outside is brightly illuminated so it was a little annoying. I forgot to mention it in the morning. All budget hotels have basically the same complimentary breakfast, this one was no different. I just can't eat that stuff. I'm sure there is way to keep the cost down and find something more creative. Just my $.02. I would stay here again.

Rude Front Desk Staff and dirty run down hotel. Do not stay here. Front desk staff was horribly rude. Escalated quickly to yelling. Walked in and the hotel was so dirty and in need of improvement that I was grossed out and left. Could not get a refund because of a 72 hour cancelation policy, now I know why they have that they trap people. Wish I would have read the reviews!

Time for a facelift! This Country Inn is located next to the railroad tracks between the Capitol Building and downtown Pierre. Design is unlike any Country Inn I’ve stayed in previously. Getting to the hotel is a challenge because it is not directly adjacent to the main street and depending on which street you approach finding the parking lot is confusing. Additionally the lot is not in great shape and there are curb barriers and one way travel, but no signs alerting you to that fact. Currently the top floor is closed for renovation and that’s a good thing. Unlike several reviews I’ve read, the hotel is in much better shape and condition than you are lead to believe. Yes, the sheets are wrinkly. So are mine at home. The bed is comfortable. Some of the pillows are disappointing. So are mine at home. The carpet on the stairs and in the hallways is worn and should be replaced, but it was vacuumed daily during my stay. Room floors are not carpeted, and they were clean when I arrived, but daily housekeeping is not automatic. The bathroom was clean with good water pressure, the fixtures are very nice, and there is a heater in the bathroom so you are warm leaving the shower. There is a larger refrigerator in the room that really cools and there is a small microwave. Lighting is quite good, but there is a floor lamp in an odd position. There is sound proofing between rooms, but some noise from slamming doors. Overall, my stay was very quiet. So far no trains have been on the tracks. Breakfast was adequate, but there were no forks and there was no water. Yes, the breakfast area is small but there were tables available. There is an ice machine but no soft drink or snack machine. There is a Walgreens next door which is open late. I spoke with staff only upon checkin and found the desk clerk to be friendly and helpful. There is nothing wrong with the hotel if you just need to get some sleep, go about your business and be on your way. It’s not the Ritz, but it doesn’t charge Ritz prices, either. Oh, OK, the air conditioner, which cools very effectively, does sound like there’s a howling blizzard outside. Fortunately, the weather was rainy and cool, so I could survive without it running, And, oops, I had to stand on a chair to get the blackout shade to roll down. So, yes, work is needed, but the hotel is not a dive. It is perfectly adequate, and seems well-managed. It’s showing its age and use.

WORST HOTEL EVER!!! and Expedia helps them do it. The Country Inn & Suites in Pierre, SD is hands-down THE WORST worst place I've ever stayed. This place has no excuse (even though they try to make many.) The rooms were filthy with food scraps and wrappers from the last guests. The sheets were stained. No breakfast was provided. The showers had no hot water by 7:15 AM. The bathroom door (barndoor style???) didn't close because it wasn't installed correctly. No TV. Loud heat unit and even louder bathroom fan. I was booked for 2 nights but after just 8 hours at this place I had to get out. I contacted Expedia and the customer service representative assured me that it would be taken care of. As of 3/25/24 the property feels they are somehow justified in charging me the full amount - OVER $300 for the 2 days! We booked through Expedia who chose NOT to honor the word of their customer service agent and instead "stand by the property's decision" to refuse a refund.

YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED This hotel is rough. Weird smells, actually put a towel over the sink drain to prevent the seeping odor. It needs to be razed, it's beyond a refresh. Refrigerator didn't work, was leaking water. We stayed Friday night 2nd floor. Saturday morning at 8:00 we were waken by drills, hammers, and Recip saws. They were doing (remodel/ repairs ?) only in 1 room, and it was the room directly above us. And last but not least after breakfast the entire hotels keycard system was down. DON'T STAY THERE!
