Perfection! I am reviewing the restaurant, not the hotel. I didn't stay at the hotel. A culinary treat. The food is exquisite, the menu brilliantly conceived; the wine list excellent, the desserts all masterpiece''s (especially the gingerbread) and all in all a gastronomical experience. As if that isn't enough the atmosphere is comfortable and cozy, a perfect backdrop to that good food

Weekend trip We arrived on Friday night only to find out that the hotel had been sold a few days before and the new owners were taking over that weekend. This was a little disconcerting as we were expecting the top service the previous owners had provided. Also, we were expecting to have a bar and restaurant in the hotel open so we could stop in for food and/or drinks but we found out both were not open due to the change in ownership. This was bad news for both my husband and I because we were exhausted from the work week and the drive north to the hotel and wanted to have a quiet dinner and drinks in the hotel instead of having to find something in town. Then I was asked for my credit card and I handed it over thinking they needed it on file but then I noticed the girl running my card to pay for the room which I had already paid for online. Normally I wouldn’t care but 400.00 is a lot of money to pay twice. Because of the new ownership the person running the front desk did not know how to refund my money. So now I’m out 800.00 and the weekend hasn’t even started. Thankfully our room was clean and quiet and the previous owners were on site Saturday and Sunday and made us breakfast both mornings and both meals were amazing. On Sunday as we were checking out I did mention that I needed my money refunded and thankfully the previous owner was available to show the front desk worker how to do it. I noticed this was a different worker and she was totally distracted by her tween son instead of focusing on the task she was learning. Normally I could care less when children are at a parent’s place of work but when you are supposed to be fixing an error you made I would think your focus should be on your customers and not on your child. Hopefully things will improve as the new owners get more experience. If you do plan on staying at this hotel I would make sure and call first to see if the bar and restaurant are open yet.

Unhappy travelers This is the worst hotel experience we have ever had; the place is run down and no service what's so ever. The website and pictures are mis leading totally problems are, : Air con didn't work then when they got it going it was so noisy you couldn't sleep. : The mattress is so badly worn it slopes in both directions should of been Dis guarded years ago. : There is no elevator or any personnel to help with your bags so if you are on the 3 rd. floor good luck. :They say free breakfast it is so bad we would not eat there again. : Our room was not serviced after we had requested this at check in. :There is a total lack of staff so this leads to absolutely no service :Our shower over the bath drain plug blocked up so we had to shower or stand in our own water. :The front desk or management are so hard to raise to voice any concerns : Their excuse to the above discussed problems are that we were rude, well after this experience and lack or service an response to our concerns it was hard to be completely polite :This property is not eligible for a 2 star rating, it is well over priced and the website is totally misleading

Lovely place to stay, caring staff, great food & entertainment! I very recently stayed at The Fig and The Pheasant for 3 nights in October, 2021. I had a lovely room on the lower level which was comfortable, clean and well stocked. Since I recently had knee surgery, the receptionist carried my bags down the stairs and did the same when I checked out, which was a great help. I wasn't able to take advantage of the breakfasts on my first 2 mornings due to timing of meetings, but on my last morning, I had more time so I had a FABULOUS breakfast of waffles with apples, a fried egg ad a huge rasher of bacon, it was delicious. Also had a great dinner on my last evening (the restaurant is not open on Monday and Tuesday evenings), but the best part was the Irish music provided by 8 talented musicians. What a nice way to spend my final evening at The Fig and The Pheasant. My only caution is to be aware of the steps required to get to the guest rooms on the lower or upper levels. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
