Not what we expected from Hilton The good: Tesla chargers on the premises. The breakfast had a good selection. The breakfast staff was very nice. The room was clean. Diamond member parking spaces. The bad: The bedding was not comfortable. The whirlpool hot tub had hot water but the jets were not working. Kind of defeats the purpose. The cable service was out leaving us without any entertainment. The property is in need of refurbishing. Bathroom walls showing signs of decay. Bedroom furniture showing signs of aging. Lastly as a Diamond member we did not received the complimentary gifts or water. By the way I was not even acknowledged as a Diamond member. Disappointed with this stay. Not sure if we would return but will consider it if property gets refurbished.

Loved this hotel! We were on a road trip and the the hotels for the last 2 nights had been dumps! I was SO happy to see this place, the staff were so friendly, the room was large and so nice! I told my husband the hotel gods knew what bad places we had stayed in on our trip and blessed us with this hotel on our final night! Enjoyed the breakfast before we left

Not Perfect but Still an Okay Choice The Hilton app is great and lets you make reservations, check-in early, check-out, digital key, etc. WARNING, not all things are as great as they appear. Here’s the background story: Our reservation was for 5 September. This is our late summer mini vacation to Port Aransas. On September 4th I decided to check the app and discovered that check-in is available. I select the “pick your own room” option. I see two rooms are available on the first floor. This is wonderful because, as my wife and I age, we need the ease of getting in and out that comes with the first floor rooms. I select Room 101 and my check-in is complete. How easy is that! I sign up for digital key and I’m as happy as a Lark. This was all on the 4th mind you. We arrive around 4:40 pm on September 5th. I park on the east end of the lot because I know 101 is on the very east end and there is an entrance door there. Easy in and out. But wait, when pulling up the digital key on the app, I discover the room says 201. That can’t be, that’s not on the first floor. We stop at the desk only to discover my room was changed without notice or explanation. Not a happy camper right now. I’m not sure what upsets me more, not getting the first floor or not getting a call that the hotel made that change without notice. I have used the check-in app before and have always gotten the room I checked in to. As a customer, I have no idea what went on behind the scenes. Was there an app malfunction? Was there a manual human input error? Was another customer given that room because they arrived earlier? If I were king, here’s how I would operate. If the front desk is changing an app-created room check-in, I would require the employee making the change, to annotate the reason why and contact the customer to apologize and inform them, and ask them if they would prefer to stay on the first floor (if available) or whether they had another floor preference. I would also offer some kind of upgrade to compensate for the error. Maybe a free night, an upgrade to Diamond status for that stay, or something. Knowing ahead of time would have meant that I would not have parked at the east end. Especially if I knew we were going to have to use the elevator. ********* Now on to my regular review. This Hampton has been our “go to” hotel for a number of years when visiting Port Aransas (almost annually). Based on other Hamptons we’ve been to recently, it seems some maintenance issues are cropping up and not being taken care of properly. Little things, but appearances reflect pride in their property. The room entrance door will not close on its own. This is rare for a hotel room. The customer must push/pull to ensure the door is closed and locked. The room is large with a small fridge and microwave. The layout design of this particular room is a bit odd. There are no towel racks or bars to hang slightly-used towels on. Really? The tub/shower room only has a passive vent, no fan, so it doesn’t vent the humid air from the room very well at all. If you like hot showers, expect it to be super humid when you finish your shower. The toilet/shower/tub room also has the switch on the outside, so it’s impossible to access from inside and not easy to use while your spouse is still sleeping without shining a bright light into the sleeping area. Speaking of room lights, they are very bright which a positive thing in my opinion. Hallways are also very well lit. The lavatory drain was a bit slow and started to fill the sink while washing your hands and face, or brushing your teeth. Needs a Roto Rooter or Draino. I reported this to the front desk. The TV channel selection is fairly robust and it has multiple connections on the rear. The AC kept the room cool in the late summer Texas heat. Lots of power outlets for charging your mobile devices. The shower flow rate was acceptable although a bit lower than I like. The shower head flow pattern was also acceptable, unlike in my 2017 review. Your mileage may vary, but some rooms have a shower curtain and some have a shower door without a tub. Room 201 has a curtain. Trash cans have plastic bags. A nice touch and good hygiene. The mattress was a bit on the firm side but that’s okay with me. Support staff were very friendly, professional, and customer service oriented. Oh, these guys still have the old style luggage carts. Nice! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider this Hampton again, but it might be time to scope out other properties. I’m dropping my 2017 rating from 5 Trip Advisor Dots to 4 since my last review.

Okay hotel I wish I could give two separate reviews for this hotel. First the service is amazing and everyone is very friendly. The breakfast was good for hotel breakfast. The location is great too. However, the hotel needs a revamp. I understand that being close to the beach makes it hard to keep things nice, but for the price that they are asking the place is too run down. We had a queen suite and it was nasty. They cleaned it the best they could, but the carpets are gross, showers beat up, and walls and doors need painting. I'm going to guess that it is a combination of visitor turn around, sand and seawater, and animal urine. This is a pet friendly hotel which is okay, but I saw urine in the elevators several times, dogs off leashes in hallways, and there is an animal smell throughout the hotel. I'm not sure, but I think all rooms are pet friendly. So it's not a bad hotel per se, but they are charging too much money.
