A Gem in the Works (Hotel) Had to Evacuate our home (North) due to Helene and got room here. Hotel is older but is going thru renovation. No work noise, however. Patty at reception was very helpful and friendly. She took the time to explain the hotel and restaurants in the area. When I got back after breakfast, the cleaners had already made up my bed and cleaned the bathroom for me. Thank you and great service. Cant wait for the finished renovation at this place !

Mixed feelings Mixed feelings about this place. I'll start with the pros. 1. Decent location in regards to I-75, restaurants, gas stations, etc. 2. Free fresh baked cookies for guests in the lobby in the afternoons. 3. Possibly the best blackout blinds I've ever seen in a hotel (once you figure out how they work). 4. We personally didn't notice any excessive noise from other guests, which was nice. 5. Pool open late (although it's tiny). 6. There is coffee and breakfast in the morning off the lobby, but it's pretty basic. 7. Any of the staff I dealt with seemed friendly and nice. As for the cons, It wasn't the cleanest place I've ever stayed. My impression of our room was that it's a work in progress. I got the feeling that the entire hotel is in a slow motion remodel/renovation phase? I don't know how else to describe it. The room seemed recently painted, but the paint job seemed a bit sloppy. Above the window, there were holes in the wall where the previous curtain rod hung. You'd think they would repair those holes before painting. The one chair in our room was filthy. We wouldn't even sit on it. Yet the blinds seemed brand new. The TV was somewhat dated, although it worked fine. The TV stand was very beat up. The bedding was weirdly lumpy but seemed reasonably clean. There was one framed print hanging above one of the beds, but not above the other bed (I realize that's a very minor thing, it was just odd. It gave the room a weirdly unbalanced look). The flooring in the hotel room itself appears to be brand new vinyl flooring (but it was not clean...it felt gritty and we found a chunk of Play-Doh on the floor near the window). The price I paid seemed far too high for what the accommodations ended up being. I'm guessing that the rates get jacked up during busy seasons, and being that it's spring break, I assume that's why the rates were as high as they were. Overall I was not terribly impressed, and not sure I would stay there again.

False pictures of hotel and room on booking sites, false advertising. Be forewarned. This hotel is nothing like the photos or description on any of the booking sites. It was dirty, our room was not finished, with amenities that didn’t work (lights) , paint left on door handles and floor and devoid of any comforts or decor. It looked and felt like we were staying in what we imagine to be similar to a jail cell. Gray and dull. Countertop left unattached to the wall, a hole cut out for a sink and the sink not installed. Instead the hole for the sink was covered by a small cutting board. We had to wash and clean light switches to use them. We complained at the desk that the room was awful and asked to cancel the 2 nights booked. We were advised the cancellation policy meant we would be charged for 1 night. Because we had nowhere else to go and other hotels in Port Charlotte booked, we had to stay 1 night. Worst night in a hotel ever.

Anywhere but Here The air conditioner leaked all the way to the middle of our room. We told the front desk about it and said that we were running out of towels to clean up the mess. They offered us more towels. We asked to have maintenance fix it. After several hours we left for the day. Sometime during our absence they did repair it. The room was dark - not enough lamps. Breakfast was minimal. We will not return to this place.
