Great views.... We last stayed here in 2019 (prior to Covld); so it was really great, to make a 4-day return visit. The facility is clean and well-maintained; and our check-in was efficient and welcoming. The front-desk staff were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay; especially in our daily requests, for those wonderfully indulgent, signature chocolate-chip cookies. Our room was quite comfortable; with the added bonus of great views of the St Claire River, Bluewater Bridge and passing water traffic (especially the freighters). The room's balcony is a bit small; but sufficient enough to enjoy the hotel's best feature...its location. We are already looking forward to a return visit.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. My spouse and I were celebrating our anniversary over a weekend in October 2024, and we had the opportunity to spend a Saturday night at this DoubleTree. We enjoyed our stay very much. For me, it was special to stay here because I'd stayed here 28 years ago when I was in high school (back when it was the Thomas Edison Inn), and I'd been wanting to stay here again someday. Well, "someday" was finally last weekend. We loved it! Our check-in process on Saturday afternoon was efficient, and the clerk who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. My spouse (who booked the room) has some status with Hilton Honors. We were able to choose our room, and we were upgraded to a beautiful, larger, balcony room (#330). The room was clean, comfortable, and had an amazing view of the St. Clair River and Blue Water Bridge. We enjoyed our stay so much. We had dinner, and later, drinks, at the Freighters restaurant/bar. We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. This hotel is seriously one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. I would GLADLY stay here again the next time I find myself in need of lodging in Port Huron.

Fun stay We really enjoyed our stay here. We were upgraded to a suite, which was so nice! We had a balcony, which I would recommend getting. We loved the view and watching the ships pass by. It was nice to have the walking path so close by. Also the Blue Water Trolley stops right in front of the hotel. It was a very interesting tour, learned a lot about the history of Port Huron. It was also nice having Freighters Restaurant connected. We didn't get breakfast included, which I regretted, because we ended up eating breakfast at Freighters and then just paying for it out of pocket. The beds were a little too firm for us, but otherwise everything was great about the hotel. The workers are all so friendly and they are always cleaning. Gift shop was fun too!

Fascinating spot to stay We were surprised at how much we enjoyed our night here. The location is right where the river meets the lake, and we were lucky to get a waterfront room. The view of the ships going up and down river was fascinating. There's even a monitor in one of the hallways that shows real time ship positions, so you can catch them passing. Staff was friendly, the hotel was spotless, and overall, it was really a nice hotel. If I had to make any criticism, the pool are could using a little bit of decorating love. The pool is huge--you could easily swim laps--and clean, as was the hot tub. The area has a lovely high wood ceiling and a lot of windows. It's just in need of a little color, a few potted plants, and some brighter furniture. But we still enjoyed it as is.

Overpriced hotel with a view I havent been to this hotel for 6 yrs and was shocked to see the deterioration! Bathroom tiles cracked and grout very dirty. Carpets throughout hotel stained and worn. Screendoor to balcony ripped and off track. The elevators were dirty. Freighters( their restaurant on site), has overpriced mediocre menu that we avoided. This hotel is priced like a 4 or 5 star hotel because of great view but definitely should be a 2 or 3 star at best. Hilton should review this property!
