Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Portland, TX

Don't stay here I have traveled significantly, and one of my preferred places is Country Inn & Suites. This was one of the worst ones I have stayed at in quite some time. Our first room had what appeared to be black mold in the bathroom shower area. We complained and they moved us to another room on the 3rd floor. This was a little better but not much. At least there was no mold in the bathroom. There was a stain on the carpet and the ceiling, probably from some type of water damage. The bottom sheet had a stain on the side. The shower curtain rod had been pulled out of the wall and it appeared an attempt was made to repair it. However, that was unsuccessful and the curtain sagged and did not fully close. The tub did not drain and by the time I finished my shower, the water was ankle-deep. The hallways were like refrigerators. The breakfast was sub-par. On our second day there, they were out of eggs, and biscuits. The sausages looked like they had been burnt. The pool wasn't bad. This hotel is in desperate need of upgrades and updating.

6 months of traveling this has been by far the worst experience. Honestly, I don’t mind it being tired and old but the staff made it unbearable. I use a rewards app to book my stays and it says my price is guaranteed. I am supposed to get a complimentary upgrade if available. So I go to check in the clerk didn’t know if the hotel had suites. Odd but whatever. She was kind of rude and disinterested with me. After a couple of days I get a ratings email. I gave a less than favorable rate. It said I would get a call from a manager and I never did. The room was ok the shower had mold and rust. We asked for room service a few times and never got it. Asked to spread to the manager (I did once and my husband did once) he was never available. In the mean time, I asked for a statement of our stay, I found out we were charged almost double for the weekend. I get going up on weekends but double is insane the for the days after their price went up. They said it was the best rate we spoke to someone who was paying less than we were. By $30 a night. We left mid stay and went next door. The room is twice the size, cheaper,cleaner and the owner checked us in and was very friendly.

Reconsider if you prefer a clean feel and smell The 4 star is misleading. Not sure why there are so many positive reviews. This place does not give the feeling of clean and they use something like Fabuloso or similar strong smelling stuff that is so strong that is horrible in hallways and for their cleaning. The bathroom floors and caulking around tub makes it feel dirty and old. The furniture and carpet doesn't look or seem clean. The common areas also do not feel clean. It is not that hard to clean baseboards and corners areas. The elevator floors and baseboard haven't been cleaned in a very long time and it shows. This made me wonder if the rooms were clean and my first impression walking in room was similar. The 2 room keys didn't work on the second day and front desk person acted indifferent and as if she was bothered having to redo them. I tried to pay with cash when I arrived vs my credit card and the person asked if my credit card wouldn't work. I said my credit card is fine but often times will pay cash. She said she didn't think they took cash but didn't know how to do it. We ran my credit card. The room was non-refundable so I stayed for the 2 nights but won't be back. Surprised in Choice as they have a better reputation for cleanliness.

Softball Tourney Hotel is old and dated. AC at entrance not working properly. Needs a serious facelift. Hotel had a musty odor. Carpets worn and in need of cleaning or replacing. Would not recommend. Better places to stay nearby.

Extremely disgusting shocked it’s still open This place was absolutely horrible. It was a family trip with my parents, aunt and uncle and brothers. This place was absolutely disgusting. Mold on the walls and ceiling, bed sheets and pillowcases with dirt , hairs and stains. Smells everywhere. And the electrical outlets were bubbled because the walls were filled with mold.was so disappointed the photos look nothing like this place. The front desk was very nice and understanding.
