Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites POTEAU by IHG

Going home from vacation Great location. Easy access. Staff very friendly and helpful. Arrived early and called to see if room was available, it was and allowed to check in early. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast basic, nothing special. Only negative is pool and hot tub closed.

It just got worse! Poteau, Oklahoma Location: My family and I stayed here for one night while driving from Missouri to Dallas. We had two rooms. Upon entering our room, it was pretty obvious the AC was not working properly. We tried to call the front desk, but the phone didn't work. My niece went down to the front desk and told them. They did offer another room, but we were tired and just stayed in the room. The room was fine (except for AC and phone). Our main problem came the next morning. Another one of my nieces went to all four floors trying to find an ice maker that worked. None of them did. She went to the front desk to tell the clerk. For whatever reason the front desk clerk was not going to listen to her and started yelling. My niece tried to tell her about the AC, phone, and ice maker problem. The front clerk told her that we should have told us about these problems, the night before. We did. Then she told my niece that I had checked out at 7:55 AM and given her the key. I hadn't. I didn't even get out of bed till 8:15! I approached the front desk (holding my key), to tell her I had not checked out that early. I was concerned this could have been a security problem. The front desk person would not listen. She just yelled at us. I had never seen anything like it before. Of course, this is a condensed version of what happened, but the reaction of the front desk clerk was unbelievable, and terribly unprofessional. I did not get the name of the clerk, but oh my goodness!!!! I will say the breakfast was good. I really liked the biscuits and gravy. Good biscuits and gravy are not enough to convince me to use this hotel again!

Out of breakfast, coffee and hot water by 8 am After driving 14 hours and driving 25 minutes out of the way at 1 am to stay here so We can grab breakfast before heading out for another 12 hours I woke up at 8 to zero breakfast, coffee or hot water. This was completely unacceptable. All they had were bacon bits, omelets (can’t eat) and oatmeal you can’t eat because no hot water. Literally no coffee either. Room seemed clean except carpet dirty and fridge doesn’t close. Nice hot water in shower and pressure. Left starving and asleep

nice and clean This is what I expect a IHG hotel to be. It was a unplanned visit so we didn't look at reviews. It was just what we wanted. It was very clean. All the hotel staff that we interacted with were friendly. The breakfast was what we expect from a IHG hotel. would stay here again

If Safety is a Concern——Don’t Stay Here Called the day we were arriving (around 3pm) to let them know we would be arriving late. I told them 10pm, lady said she would put 11 and to call if we were any later. Got to hotel at 10:10pm, was informed elevator was broken. Asked for a room closer to ground d floor and was told no. Given a room on top floor (4th). This is a very small town with only a couple of other hotels that are VERY seedy so going elsewhere was not an option. No ID ever checked upon check-in. Lugged all our stuff up the stairs and door was open to our room before we entered. Husband went in to check around to make sure it was unoccupied. Next morning went out with family and returned to room at 5pm, room was not cleaned or restocked with fresh towels. Husband went downstairs to talk to front desk and the girl said we were marked as a no-show and the room we are in was marked as unoccupied, meaning, she could have assigned the room at any point and we could have had strangers walk in or someone come in and take our belongings. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. Carpet in room is pulling away from tile leading to big tripping hazard, faucet on wet bar extremely loose, sink in bathroom has no water pressure or gets hot whole shower will burn you. Stairwell had dried dirt in clumps from bottom floor all the way up to 4th floor. Front desk was 100% not helpful and the girl wouldn’t even look at my husband while he talked to her, she was typing away on the computer. Clearly, safety is not of a concern to this particular establishment.
