Peaceful, comfortable, and quiet getaway in San Diego county. Comfortable, quiet, and great value for money in Ramona. The hotel is at the golf course and has about 30 rooms. All rooms face the golf course, have a spacious balcony, and are very spacious. Parking is directly at your door which made it easy to bring our bags in. We had a king room which had a refrigerator. The hotel has a large heated pool and large hot tub. Both pool areas have been recently resurfaced and were great for swimming and soaking. The restaurant was not open on a Monday, we ate in the bar which had a selection of pizzas, burgers, salads. It was fine for what we wanted. The restaurant looked very nice. We did have breakfast there. It was good food and reasonable. We didn’t play golf. The course looked very nice. The hotel also has tennis courts. Would recommend this hotel very highly for a relaxing stay.

Course Horrible $$$$$ Way overpriced for quality of course. Should be municipal course as bad as fairways and greens are. Have 3 carts waiting at each hole on front nine. Go to another course around here. Many to choose from for similar cost. Whitney way better. Food not bad though. Restaurant view is nice.

A winning formula We stayed here three nights and enjoyed ourselves immensely, playing two rounds on the San Vicente course and one on the nearby Mt Woodson. This is no fancy-pants resort, but what it offers, it does very well. The course is well-maintained and challenging, with lots of interest. Rooms are fairly basic but have everything one needs, are clean and well kept. Food at the bar was exceptional (though breakfast in the Oak Grill was disappointing - very slow to appear after ordering and poorly cooked). Staff are friendly and welcoming. And all this comes at a very decent price. This is exactly the kind of golf club one would like to be a member of - we left feeling that local residents and members were fortunate indeed.

Come and stay but you cannot play! I’ll start with the good points first! We arrived early Sunday afternoon after driving nearly 200 miles westwards and looked in at the golf shop on our arrival. Guys were great and before we knew it had organised a game of golf almost straightaway. With no one in front of us we flew round enjoying the course, although there was evidence that recent bad weather had done a fair bit of damage to this part of California too. Despite that we enjoyed the course and found the greens pretty fast and took us a few holes to get to grips with them. During the latter part of the round we caught up with the groups in front but that was fine. It was only after the round that we found out that the course was closed to everyone for the next 3 days as all the greens were to be recored and fairways spiked. The accommodation was excellent, a good sized room with fantastic views of the course and it was a joy to relax and watch humming birds buzz about in front of your eyes. We enjoyed our first meal in the restaurant sitting at the window admiring the views. Our waitress the first night was lovely. The restaurant is closed on Mondays but a breakfast of sorts can be got at the poolside snack bar which was okay. We were back in the restaurant on Tuesday night for another nice meal and were joined after the meal with a visit from another couple that we had played golf with at Mount Woodson the day before. Before we left on the Wednesday morning we enjoyed an excellent breakfast in an empty breakfast room attended by no less than three serving staff, who were all great. I would have awarded Vicente 5 stars for our stay but felt they were very very naughty accepting our booking and giving us no prior warning regarding not being able to play golf. After all why else would you book 3 nights on a golf resort? Other guests we met were pretty miffed that they were having to travel distances to find golf. And it was leaving a pretty sour taste with them. For our part we had always intended to play Mount Woodson and that was fun and a journey towards San Diego to play the Maderas course, although unplanned turned out to be a brilliant day for us. Despite the course being closed without warning to us I would be happy to return - as long as the course is open!

Our New Favorite Place for Golf near San Diego This place is wonderful. It starts with their staff. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The room was large and newly decorated with hardwood floors and had a nice quiet heater/ac unit. The fridge was newer also and ample sized. In short, we had everything we needed for a comfortable 4 night stay. All the rooms overlook the golf course. We always request a top floor room so as to ensure a quiet night with no noisy humans above us. The beds were very comfortable and you had several pillows to pick from. Lots of closet space as well as 4 large drawers . NOW THE GOLF COURSE: WHAT A HIDDEN GEM. Each hole is different and has a personality of it's own. Mostly nice large fairways, some water, some long carries, and the need "to know how to play that hole". BUT THE GREENS..BE PREPARED FOR SOME 3 PUTTS! Great condition---but sneaky fast..sneaky breaks....but always fun. Loved this course. Shot higher than normal scores--due to many 3 putts. The guys in the pro shop are wonderful....especially Fred and Sergio....We will definitely be going back.
