Pleasant stay at safe, clean hotel The hotel is adequate and comfortable for a few days stay. The location is right off Highway 590 which is convenient to access downtown Rochester. The check in process was very fast. I booked online through the Choice app and noticed the process for check in did not require the usual filling in form with your car information and personal information. The hotel was renovated in 2019 it is modern inside but the building is probably 20 years old. The floors are decorated concrete and the room with a King bed was quite roomy. At first I did not like the concrete floor but it avoids the problem with older hotels in particular where the carpet can be dirty and smelly. The place is clean and I particularly liked the lobby which was well decorated with new furniture for sitting and eating. The hotel has fruit (oranges, bananas) and coffee, tea in the lobby 24 hours. The breakfast could have been a bit better as they did not provide any hot food like eggs and bacon. Breakfast is packaged cereal and muffins. At first I was not going to book this hotel as past reviews complained of "thin" walls where it was noisy, blinds that did not work and hence privacy was an issue, no elevator and in some cases dirty units. I found none of this to be the case. There is no elevator but the place has only 2 floors. So for mobility challenged people this can be a issue but for us it was not a problem for us. I was on the ground floor anyway so it did affect us. There is free parking next to the building. The area is safe and well lit at nigh but is on Monroe Avenue which is major, busy street. We went for strolls at night for exercise there were not issued. There are has several malls nearby with stores such as Marshalls, Trader Joes. There is a Whole Foods Market, Chipotle Mexican, Red Sun (Chinese food) and Starbucks literally two minutes walk from the hotel. I would stay here again as the price was reasonable ($100 to $135) for a clean, safe but no-frills hotel.

Not a Five Star Hotel Ceiling was clean. Everything else was subpar. Really one of the poorest excuses for a hotel I’ve encountered. Cheap fixtures, no lamp shades, dim lighting except for light coming from the parking lot, damaged table and chairs, a TV that didn’t work and when repaired by staff offered 9 channels. A Choice property and given a choice go elsewhere.

A property in transition I'l make the review as fair as possible. This appears to be a hotel that is bing rebranded as a Clarion Pointe so things are still changing and it looks like for the better. The pros: good location off the highway and near many things. New businesses around the property. Room was very clean. Check in/out was easy. Manager seemed friendly. Bed was firm with plenty of pillows. And would you believe there were two charging stations for electric cars! Now what you might not like, based on my experience in my room. I was on the first floor, but be aware there is no elevator to the second floor. My room had what looked like an epoxy floor, and the lighting in the room reminded me of the Steampunk look. And there were White Noise machines in the hallway. The bathroom was super clean but TINY. I am 5'11 and 200 lbs and it was hard to turn around with the door closed. The sink was outside of the room-the faucet was loose and the drain stopper didn't work. Furniture was shabby. No clock, no coffee maker. Big wall mounted flat screen tv but no instructions on how to make it work and no one to ask. A/C was noisy when it cycled on. And the breakfast? And the coffee? The good news is that it doesn't cost extra AND there is a Dunkin' Donuts an easy walk away. So you decide. Looks like it is on the way up but time will tell.

Location was great but a few issues The location was perfect and close/central to where we wanted to go. Good: Staff was friendly (when they were present!) and floors were not carpeted. Room was generally clean. Cons: 1. No one was working the front desk Sat morning for hours! Breakfast area was empty by 7am and was a mess. 2. No hairdryer. I had to search for someone and she gave me one. 3. No lamp shade. All the lamps only had the exposed lightbulbs which was bright in our eyes. 4. Tub not draining. The cleaning lady said they couldn't do anything about it until after we left. 5. Air conditioner was making banging sounds at different intervals throughout the night. Tips: Ask for 2nd floor if you don't mind using stairs as there's no elevators. Go to breakfast at 6:30am as they run out of food fast.

Okay in a pinch Mattress was not comfortable and bed was super squeaky anytime someone moved. Very loud in hotel overall, probably due to lack of carpteting. Could hear guests in other rooms/hallway. No elevator to 2nd floor. Next time would pay a bit more to stay elsewhere.
