Spark by Hilton Rock Hill

Exactly what we needed We were in Rock Hill for a full week for a basketball tournament. Wingate was not too expensive, had breakfast included and was close to the event venue. Although the hotel is older, everything was clean and we felt very safe there. The breakfast each morning was the same thing, but it was good and we were able to fuel up to start the day. The room was a bit small, but the bathroom was a great size! At the front desk they had food recommendations by Patrick, the manager. We tried several and were not disappointed in any of the restaurants! Patrick also went above and beyond to make sure we were able to stay an extra 2 nights at the end of our stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Road trip Everyone was very nice and friendly. The place was clean but the lobby furniture is very worn and ratty. Overall I would stay here again and would recommend to others.

Bed bugs We were traveling as a group for basketball. 1st night one of the groups found a cockroach in the room. They were traveling with a 2 y/o. Had to pack all their things and move to another room with a toddler, very inconvenient. The next day elevators were not working. 2nd night another group found bed bugs and immediately checked out. Hotel did not want to give them their money back even after they were shown the picture. Lady at the lobby was saying she couldn’t do nothing b/c the manager was out of town and could not be reached. The story kept changing. Hotel was in need of upgrades. The furniture in the lobby had the leather peeling off the couches, room carpet was dirty and walls were peeling. The only good thing at breakfast was the waffles. The eggs were full of water. The juice was so watered down. The last day the pool was closed. I was charged an extra fee at check out. When asked about it b/c that was not the price I got at booking I was told it’s a destination fee and for some reason it doesn’t show up when booking but they can’t do nothing about that it’s a SC law. I highly advise you to by pass this hotel.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Hotel staff gave my room key to someone who attempted to access my room around midnight twice. I had to call Rockhill Police to come onsite and report the incident, the next morning I spoke with the manager she stated that she She would have maintenance check my door to see who tried to access it. She called me back shortly and said oops maintenance accidentally erased all information on your door. How Convenient! The manager was rude. She refused to comp my stay. Do not stay here! if you’re a woman by themselves or with children, do not stay here! When police arrived, the front desk Male employee changed his story so many times, I felt like I was a lifetime and the entire staff at the hotel was in on it.

Look for another option- it has to be better The hotel is rundown and needs general, upkeep and maintenance. The walls were stained and dirty. The floors in the bathroom looked like they needed to be cleaned and soaked in bleach for a few days. We could not use the shower in our room because it was so backed up that you were standing in 3 inches of water. It was nothing less than disgusting. Maintenance man and two different people at the front desk told me there was nothing they could do because the hotel was sold out. I asked for them to sneak the drain or clean it or buy a bottle of Drano and was told they didn’t have any of that and could not go buy it. The customer service was horrendous, the hotel was dirty, and I would never stay at another Wingate by Wyndham.
