ESA Long Beach CA! Staff was grumpy and not helpful at all. Horrible experience! I stayed at the ESA in Long Beach CA. Not even a spoon in the "Fully equipped" kitchen. Nothing! No shampoo, or hair dryer in the bathroom. Checked out after 3 nights. They still owe me money for a refund of my deposit for the remaining 4 nights. I have a printout of what the refund should have been and they short paid me. Went back to complain and they said I should get the balance in 7 to 10 business days. It has been 2 1/2 months. I can't reach anyone who is willing to help me. They have lost me and a lot of fellow travelers as guests forever!

A different kind of hotel stay option..... I wont say this is a bad place to stay, its just a little different from being a traditional hotel option is the best way to say it. This hotel is on a smaller scale, (as I suspect when it was built it was probably part of a larger hotel property that a good portion of it has been demolished over time. The pro's, they have several room size options. Including an option for a room with a small fridge, sink, and stovetop with an overhead microwave. Those items give an individual needing extended lodging an option to stay here. The rooms are a bit dated in the decor department but the room was clean. While this is not a five star hotel experience for the money it is a good option. I liked that there were restaurants nearby for grabbing a bite to eat without having to get in the car. I would stay here again on a future visit to the area.

Great Super 8 While this isn't the Ritz, I was very impressed with this hotel. Mike checked us in and was very friendly and efficient. Made us feel very welcome. The next morning we met Justin, General Manager. He was also extremely friendly and helpful. He also made us feel very welcome The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Basic breakfast is available. Very good value. I will stay there again when in the area. My room was away from the road so it was very quiet. I was very pleased with this property. Making the reservation was very easy but I called to make it. Don't quite trust the internet to get it right. A word of caution about using a booking agency. If you are going to book online, make sure you get the website of the actual hotel - not a booking agency. With an agency, If you have to make changes or need to cancel, it can take several phone calls to get a refund. Nothing like talking to a real person on site. This Super 8 is family owned and is much more personal.

Mixed Bag This place is a mix for me. It's an economic. Place to stay and is in close proximity to everything in the Hartford area. The continental breakfast is small but it's and extra so no reason to really judge. My room was clean and most of the staff was friendly. On the reverse side of that the room was old and quite frankly possibly ready to fall apart. Whenever I touched the counter in the bathroom it wiggled and I could see that the mounting screw was coming out and the glue was cracked. Check in was disappointing in that I arrived early and therefore understood that my room wasn't ready. The guy took my number on the premise that he would call when it was ready. I finally returned after the posted check in time after never having received a call. The explanation was that "the girls have been busy". They must have finished A ROOM in the ensuing hours. I had been traveling all night and really wanted the shower. The other incident took place on the last morning of my stay. A water main broke. There was no water to shower.... I told the front desk guy and mentioned that I hoped that it would be fixed before I had to go. He just looked at me like I was asking for a miracle. No dude, just looking for some sympathy... I was luckily given a little extra time for checkout as I had a race and returned with 15 mins to spare. If you need a place to stay and you expect no extras then this place will do you fine. If you need some extra hospitality, you will want to spend some additional money and go down the road
