Old and Worn Out Old and worn out. Dirty, smelly, in need of repair. Staff was super nice. Don't stay here unless you are used to old and worn out lodging. Bathroom was in need of major repairs. Old Old Old Old Old Old. Breakfast one morning out of meat, one morning out of eggs while attendant was outside smoking. Attendant very unfriendly.

Pleasant stay. Pleasant stay for one night - the planes can be heard - which was to be expected in the vicinity of the airport.

Another La Quinta that was much better before COVID and before being bought by Wyndham Hotels Group Giving this hotel three stars might be a shade higher than they deserve. Forgetting for the moment that this used to be a fabulously managed hotel between 2016-2020, focus first on "security." There are entrances on each of the four sides, including the fromt entrance that brings you to reception. Each of the other three have a visible sign stating that these doors are securely locked 24 hours every day and to use your room card key to go in and out. At each door is a rubber fatigue mat that is moved to a place where the doors stay propped open and, in each case, there was a luggage cart typically like the ones that guests use to load and unload their belongings when checking in or out. The problems were that these carts were also holding anywhere from two-six bags of trash (with dumpsters not far away in the various parking lots that the doors faced. After getting one of only two empty luggage racks maintained in the lobby for guests in probably between 50-60 rooms, and unloading my luggage from my car at a back door after checking in at reception first, I moved the mat back outside so that the door would lock properly. Upon bringing the empty luggage rack back to the lobby for others to use, I stopped at the desk to tell them m]about my experience at the back door. I said that, "you may be aware of this, and it may not even mean anytging, but I think I should tell you what I saw." After relating about the mat propping the door open and my moving it back to its proper location, I said, "I tried my card key to get in, and both the green light and the red light lit up and a buzzing sound occurred." The clerk apparently mosunderstood and said, "oh, maybe your card got denagnetized. Let me maje you a new one." I corrected her misimpression by telling her that my card key worked in getting me in, but thst seeing both lights go on and hearing the buzzing noise was what seened strange. Her response was, "oh, that's just the maids. They prop the doors open all the time because it makes it easier taking out the trash (each maid had his/her own master card key, which made this insecure and lazybpractice totally unnecessary, and also did not address that those luggage carts stayed in place all day andnight withno one ever taking them to the dumpsters and depriving the guests of three more luggage carts that guests trying to find when needing to load or unload their vehicle at check-in or check-out was totally ignored as being of any importance. Additionally, a fitness center, with a sign stating that "no children under age 15 may use the center unless accompanied by an adult" had a door that was left unlocked and propped open. Meanwhile, three employees spent their entire shifts in a little office behind the recption desk, chatting with each other the whole time and with none of the ever walking around the building to see about any security issues like open exterior doors, unauthorized minors using the fitmess center. The pool area probably would have been anotherplace that was ignored, but there was a sign that the pool was closed (without any explanation about why or for how long the situation was expected to exist Other than that, the hotel is surprisingly quiet being in the direct flight path of Wayne County Airport, the breakfast fare is basic acceptable average (although nobody comes close to how well Embassy Suites does breakfast), and their free airport shuttle ie reliable in both directions 24/7. You could do worse when staying temporarily in the Detroit area (especially if you're not old enough to remember what happened to singer Connie Francis years ago and hotel security is not high on your list of concerns
