Easy access to other areas Wanted a fairly central location to explore Santa Cruz and Monterey so we chose Salinas for convenience and price. Hotel had a lot of chain stores around which made it easy to pick up some groceries and snacks for our road trip. It’s a Courtyard so rooms are standard, I think the restaurant was open (we didn’t eat there). Used the laundry facility so that was helpful. — at Courtyard by Marriott Salinas Monterey.

Beware, it is not very nice I travel for work and always stay in Marriott hotels. I booked the Courtyard for 4 night, due to my status I did get a larger room. When I opened the door the smell is awful, it smells like cat urine. I went to the store to get some air freshener but it didn’t help. The furniture in the sitting room is in terrible condition there are burn marks on the ottoman. There was NO soap to wash my hands I have to walk into the shower and use the body wash to wash my hands in the sink. I asked for hand soap and was told they were out (!!). The bathroom has rust and the carpet is worn. The website says newly renovated, and while it looks like the lobby is being renovated my room definitely has not.

Disappointing Hotel We recently stayed at this Courtyard Hotel in Salinas, California. We stayed there for two nights and was totally disappointed with how the Hotel looked and the total experience. We arrived around 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021. Upon our check in, we were given room 328. To our astonishment, when we opened the door to Room 328, there were stuff all over the place and looked like someone is still living in the room. So, we had to go back down and the person that checked us in was named Cristina. I told her that the room she assigned to us is still occupied. The other employee helped out and started looking at the reservation and finally gave us Room 305. We went to room 305 and the room looked ok at best. It is an old hotel but in the brochure at Marriott.com it says that they just have been renovated. The patio door was left unlocked and the thermostat was inoperable. Then at the middle of the night when we were already sleeping, the room next to us decided to engage in sex and you can hear everything via the "THIN WALLS". This was totally a disappointing experience and NOT what I expect of a Marriott brand hotel.

Wonderful stay! Our stay was wonderful. We did stay during COVID restrictions, and the hotel does have hand sanitizing stations all over the place, which was really appreciated. The hotel did not seem crowded with guests at all, and the room was very clean (decor and design was really nice too!). Upon checking out of our room we drove away realizing we forgot a cell phone in our room! We called the hotel and headed back; staff was very friendly and helpful and found/returned our phone within minutes. Thank you so much! We stayed the night of our wedding, so if we had lost the phone, we would've also lost precious pictures. -Friendly, helpful, honest staff -COVID-safe stay -Full, spacious balcony with seating -free wifi, large tv -sofa/couch in our room -checkout time was 12pm (awesome!)

Unexpected parking charge and cleanliness. Checking in late in the evening, I was surprised to be told there was a $10 per day parking fee. This fee is shown on the Marriott website, however I booked through AMEX. The parking fee, is strictly extra profit as there is no secure parking or gated parking, it is just an unsecured parking lot around the hotel. Covid seems to have taken a toll on the cleanliness of the hallways and common spaces.
