Excellent choice for singles/families! I stayed at this hotel for 5 days while I was finishing up a bathroom renovation at my home. The check-in process was easy. I only interacted with staff during check in but he as friendly and very eager to help. The campus is set up a bit like an apartment complex with multiple smaller buildings. It was safe and quiet. There is a pool area and an area for BBQs with a firepit. The area directly around the hotel is primarily industrial business parks. So, don't expect local eateries/attractions you can walk to. But it worked very well for me. The kitchenettes are nice and well organized. The room was clean and all of the linens and seating were clean and free of stains or bad smells. The bed was very firm but that is how I prefer mine so it wasn't an issue. One thing to know is that if you get a 2nd floor room there are stairs. Since they are small buildings only 4/5 units in each there are no elevators. I was very impressed with the property and would definitely stay here again.

Very Excellent Hotel This is an absolute wonderful hotel to stay. The new rooms are absolutely lovely. Staff here from bottom to top is respectful and accommodating. The full breakfast is the best! Pool area is beautiful. Rooms are clean and having a full kitchen is a huge bonus. They have two security guards on site, and they are here all night. The place is quiet. Outstanding!

Don’t do it I don’t know where to start. I have given the Sonesta 3 weeks to come to some kind of rectification of our situation and not only have they not followed up. There has been ZERO communication at all. I should start by stating this is at no fault of the people who work on site, but everyone offsite such as GM Chris Hall who has deliberately ignored everyone effected by this situation. We traveled with a group to San Jose for a National sports tournament. We were hesitant to book after reading a few bad reviews about cockroaches in the rooms and at the facility. Cockroaches are the least of my complaints. We did see a few, mostly dead, outside. Rats however were plentiful at night. Upon arrival we were greeted by a gentleman (who was lovely) at the front desk. Check in was a breeze. The room itself had a good layout, however it was far from clean. There was zero cleaning service over our 4 night stay and I’m not entirely sure they cleaned between stays other than make the beds and a quick wipe of the countertop top. The bed itself was awful, I would’ve slept better on the floor. It’s rare I complain about a bed, so these were bad. There was no extra towels, only 2, when they knew there was 5 of us in the room. We had to go to the front desk just to get towels for the pool. The pool area was fine, they had a grill we used. The pool itself needs some significant maintenance and pool bottom is horrendous on your feet. Every last one of the players came out complaining and one or two were bleeding. The hot tub is completely out of order. These are all things I could look past. What I can’t look past is what happened on the last night of our stay. At 11pm we were all asleep in our beds, trying to get a good nights sleep for the medal game in our tournament the next morning at 7am. Only to be woken up to 2 women having a verbal altercation, which soon led to a physical altercation and a good 6-8 more people involved. I looked out the window to a woman ripping hair out of another woman’s head and throwing her down the outdoor stairs. They thrashed into our front door and I was genuinely scared they would break a window and end up in our suite. The one woman was obviously getting seriously injured so we called the front desk. Front desk did not answer, I thought this was because maybe they’re already dealing with the issue. No, no they were not. We called 911. 20 minutes of absolute chaos and the hotel rent a cop getting beat up, the police finally show up guns drawn. They start banging on the door and surrounding doors, yelling “COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP”. It was something out of a movie. Obviously they had fled by this point. By this point it’s close to midnight before the police leave. My anxiety is through the roof and I try to go back to bed … ONLY for these girls to COME BACK! They went back in the room, scrambling to get their things, loud as before and equally aggressive. My question is how did the Sonesta not cancel their room cards?? How were they allowed back? How did they not have enough security to handle this situation, the poor one female security guard had her butt handed to her. You could hear workers running around in a panic. No one knew what to do, no one knew how to handle the situation. The police came AGAIN. We finally all made it back to bed at what must’ve been 2am. It was SO poorly handled. People were in danger, staff were in danger. God knows what happened to the one girl and that poor security guard. The Sonesta was ill equipped and clearly had zero protocol. The next day we went to check out and there is hair and fake nails sprinkled like confetti outside of our room. I’d rather have seen the rats or roaches that had been lurking around. For the record, I have never complained about a hotel or written a bad review. That’s not me. But I needed to let someone know exactly how awful the night we just had was. The front desk guy, once again was lovely, gave me GM Chris Halls email and said he would contact me after he speaks with him. No sooner than 15 minutes later the front desk called me and said their GM would like to offer his condolences and our choice of $25 or 25000 Sonesta points (which I assure you I would NEVER use…that would involve going back). I thanked the gentleman for his time but said I would contact Chris myself in hopes of finding some form of appropriate rectification. 3 emails to GM Chris Hall, 3 emails directly to the Sonesta complaints email and 3 weeks later I have had ZERO communication other than a simple bot reply when emailing the complaints dept. assuring they will get back to me in a timely manner. My mind is actually blown that a chain of this size can lack any and all customer service. In the hospitality industry where reputation is everything, this establishment won’t last long. If you value your time, money, sanity or safety, I would never in a million years recommend staying at the Sonesta ES Suites in San Jose.

High hopes, but a bit disappointed. Nice grounds, bed was a rock, dirty chair, heater/a/c did not work, disappointed Nice grounds felt like apartments, nice BBQ , fire pit area (no table or cushions on chairs), hot tub roped off. The room was clean, chair was so dirty I would not sit in it, Bed was a ROCK, worst hotel bed in years, breakfast ok, only until 9, food not warm enough, no coffee or tea in lobby after breakfast. 1 day no heater, next day no air. Requested quiet room, I got next to road, main entrance, closet to highway. Just disappointed.
