A last minute stop, a luxery experience We spent the night here as a last minute emergency stop. We got caught up with the airline issues that happened this July, and were delayed almost a full day, so we needed to use this hotel as a base before heading to our final destination. Let me say that the staff was amazing, Delta sent our luggage over (it got lost) in the middle of the night, and the staff just kept it for us till we woke in the morning (they never bothered us). The breakfast buffet was one of the best I have ever had! They had everything from what you are used to - to local foods! I could not be happier with this establishment. I recommend 100%. If we needed to stay in San Jose we would have just stayed here but we were going North!

Underwhelming We just stayed one night before our flight home. It was wholly underwhelming. Rooms are nice, modern and comfortable and it has a very central location. however we experienced poor service. The concierge / bell man was rude and dismissive of our questions on arrival. The breakfast offering was also underwhelming. My omelette was burnt and greasy and again service was minimal. My recommendation would be to stay outside of San Jose. We were told it was unsafe to walk around after dark and as most cities can be, it’s a concrete jungle and 45 mins from the airport. Nothing to do here. I really wish we’d gone back to the Finca Rosa Blanca for one night which was amazing and much closer to the airport.

Great stay The hotel is beautiful. Concierge Jose made our trip. I wanted to see a sloth and he made it happen. Cultura restaurant was really good. Breakfast every morning was delicious and bountiful. Room was beautiful and modern. Best bed ever. Room service, housekeeping, restaurant all top notch.

Great location and friendly staff This is the best hotel I stayed at during my trip to Costa Rica. My room overlooked the National Theater and Plaza de la Cultura. The room was spacious and clean. You can walk to many attractions, including National Museum, Central Market, etc. I highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect location, awkward bathroom design Excellent location, perfect to spend a few hours in San Jose. The hotel is just across from the national theatre and just around the corner from Plaza de la Cultura. The breakfast was excellent with a wide selection and served on the top floor with a view of the city. The bathroom design is really awkward. The shower has frosted walls one of which faces the bedroom, so basically you are showering in full view of the other guests. That was awkward for us as a family of 4 with two teenager daughters, and we ended up having to take turns in the room. Also, there is no door to access the bathroom and another frosted door to the toilet.
