A great small intimate resort, loved it, tons of positives and a few negatives ... I write reviews you can use! This is long but very detailed to help you. I was compelled to write this positive review to dispel some of the negative reviews I read here. I am a 58 year old male and I stayed here for 8 nights on my own. There were plenty of people my age to get to know, it was a great resort to make friends and it was small enough that I was able to easily find them. Overall I loved the resort and I had a fantastic time. THE MAIN POSITIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Terrific food at the buffet and the a la carte. So much variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful landscaped gardens, weaving their way down to a gorgeous private sandy beach. Nightly entertainment at 9pm where you can meet the other residents. Extremely safe resort, I never once worried about my safety or my possessions. There’s a “7 Eleven” type store just over the road if you need it and there’s a huge “Walmart” type store a few minutes’ walk away. They don’t rip you off here, they don’t even take a credit card imprint for incidentals. There aren’t any timeshare touts hanging around. There’s an adults-only swim-up bar with incredible ocean views. The superb gym overlooks the sea. My room had amazing AC which is essential when you need to cool down. The daily entertainment at the pool looked like fun (yoga, bingo, games, etc.). Most of the residents are Hispanic (not many Americans or Canadians) which I liked, it made it more authentic (but most of the entertainment is in Spanish). My in-room safe was great peace of mind, and the hotel didn’t charge a daily fee for it either. The room had a small fridge. In July the resort wasn’t crazy busy, I never had a problem getting a lounger. I liked how the management and staff didn’t impose strict rules, nobody was walking around telling people off, they created a laid back relaxed ambience. There are no bugs to annoy you in July. The area is very well served by Uber and taxis. Shoutouts to Julio (bar server), and Julio / Francisco / Oscar in the buffet. Such nice people! MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT: The disco in the resort was terrible. All of the friends I met agreed. It’s an unattractive room with echoey acoustics and the music volume was so high you couldn’t possibly have a conversation. It was head-splittingly loud and there was no need for it to be that loud. The music was tailored to a much younger demographic so me and my friends gave up visiting it. Hey management: think about all the demographics of people using your resort and make the disco better for late night socializing with a better mix of music. I wouldn’t return to this resort because there are only 2 places to drink in the late evening: the disco was shockingly bad and the lobby bar lacked any atmosphere. I have to warn you that the lobby is so so hot, there is no AC, so it makes it unpleasant to be at the lobby bar for any length of time. SOME OF THE OTHER NEGATIVES OR THINGS YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF: The staff love their tips! To be fair, you don’t have to tip, but tipping was the norm and I got much better service once they knew me as a generous tipper. So bring some lower denomination pesos or dollars because the hotel won’t change your money for you. Although the buffet was excellent, it was often warm rather than hot, and a lot of the items sat under heat lamps which made the food dry out. I would have liked the food to be piping hot. The WiFi was poor (very slow and a need to log in too many times). The liquors are most definitely watered down and I am not sure they are brand names either, but I didn’t mind them being watered down because frankly there would have been a lot of dangerously drunk people if they were full strength! I had a lot of beer and wine which they can’t water down, however the wine was poor quality. After a week I was quite sick of the alcohol options, I got bored of them, but there is a liquor store over the road for more variety. The resort is on 4 levels going down to the sea (lobby >> buffet >> gardens >> pools) so if you have mobility issues I suggest you call them to discuss access. There was a lack of electrical outlets in my room so I am glad I took a long extension cable, that was a life-saver. One final thing: they weren’t generous with the bottled water so I ended up crossing the road to get enough bottled water to keep me hydrated. Note that although there were lots of families there, I wouldn’t say it’s a kid-friendly place overall, in terms of activities and food options. SUMMARY: I had a fantastic vacation, I had a great room overlooking the pool and the sea, it was easy to meet people, it was very relaxing, it was very safe, and I loved the food, ambience and laid back style. However I would not return only because of the aforementioned issues with late night socializing (terrible disco and swelteringly hot lobby bar). My friends all agreed with me so hey management do something about that!

Amazing Relaxing Vacation If there is one review you should listen to it’s this one. Based off all the other reviews, I was scared to come to the Royal Decameron. Let me tell you, boy, was I wrong! I am going to preface and say, yes, this is a get what you pay for resort. There’s not a ton to do and the beach in July is not swimmable. However, after the first day and talking to others who had been here for a few days we came up with a great plan to make it through the 7 day 6 night vacation. The first day we got here, we got in at around 1pm local time. We were exhausted from a day of travel and really didn’t see how we could stay here for a week. We were WRONG. Food Review: The first day, we went to the buffet for both a late lunch and early dinner. It wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t bad, it was good. Once talking to others, we realized we NEEDED to take advantage of the one restaurant called Luna in the resort. Once we did this, it was a game changer. Starting with breakfast, the only option is the buffet, however, there are SO many great options. As someone who is gluten free, I was scared of what I could have. The breakfast buffet EXCEEDED expectations. There is a build your own omelette bar. The line can get long but it is worth it! The fruit is so fresh and ripe, it is delicious. My friend who was with me, loved the assortment of pastries and bread. The cereal was also great for a grab and go breakfast! For lunch you NEED to go to the restaurant Luna. There is no reservation required, you just need to have a shirt on, so you can’t come straight out of the pool and go sit down (a coverup was fine)! The chicken Caesar wrap and the chicken tostadas were delicious along with other menu items. As for dinner, they change the “theme” each night at the buffet, it depends if you like that food or not, so it can be hit or miss. However, Luna is the place to go for a guaranteed great dinner. The menu changes each night for dinner only. You do need reservations, so every morning I would hop onto the website they provided and booked a reservation. It was very easy to book a reservation. Overall Luna is a game changer when it came to the food, and the breakfast buffet is spectacular. Experience: Now, there’s not much to do at this resort. I am going to say this, however, I am going to tell you how to have fun! As someone who was PETRIFIED to go off resort, I was brave enough to book 2 excursions. I was scared to go, but once the tour guide picked us up, all fear went away. We booked 2 excursions for $200 USD and broke them up throughout our stay. We did an excursion every other day. In order to not be bored, you need to book an excursion or two to break it up. The area of Los Cabos San Lucas is very safe and there was no fear walking around down town. Just be vigilant! Hotel: Rooms are SUPER clean, and staff is AMAZING! They are so friendly, helpful, and fun! They make you laugh all the time! There are 3 pools on the resort (2 for everyone, 1 for adults only). The adult pool is located up a set of stairs, and is secluded. There are two areas of laying, one under shade and one in the sun. They have swim up bars and the staff is always there! The regular margaritas are great! And the diet Pepsis and Malibu are also great! The landscaping of the resort is beautiful with lots of communal seating areas with bars. A special shoutout to a few employees: Alexis (bartender in pool and Luna), Eduardo, Fronto, and Enrique (all at Luna restaurant), and Guadeloupe (waiter in buffet). Alexis made my friend and I shots without asking and was super friendly and nice, Eduardo was our waiter almost every night at Luna and he was the BEST! He always made sure our drinks were full and we had more food than we could eat! Fronto found our little drink markers (picture below) cute and remembered our names the next time we saw him! Enrique was very attentive and had a great personality. And Guadeloupe always made sure we had coffee full each morning! Overall, my friend and I both had a spectacular time at this resort and 100% would come back with our boyfriends to make the time more fun on the resort! We booked the trip through Apple Vacations, who provided transport through Amstar and it was perfect. Getting picked up was super easy! Amstar also helped us book our excursions and we got great advice on which ones to go on. Do not let the bad reviews steer you away from this resort. Come with low expectations and you will be blown away! For the price of the trip, this was an amazing vacation!

Run the opposite direction This place shouldn’t be described as a resort. It is more of a cheap motel. The staff is rude and not helpful at all. The rooms are old and the bathrooms; if possible, older. They gave us two towels and no face towels. One of the large towels was used as a floor mat. The food was terrible. What wasn’t eaten at dinner was served for breakfast. The croutons were the old hamburger buns. The drinks taste like rubbing alcohol and the soda was flat. We had two rooms. The bathroom sink in our room was clogged and the AC unit in our second room caused the room the flood. The waves in the ocean were always a category black, red, and white so we were never able to get in the water. The only reason the pool was nice was because it was painted blue. Advertised as all-inclusive is a joke. We paid for food outside the resort. I wouldn’t stay here if it was free. We had a 5 night stay and I was ready to go my day 2. If this was place in the US it would be condemned and the owner a slumlord. There should be yellow caution tape and an enter at your own risk sign

Completely disappointed with location, food and drinks Location was ok, there is abandoned construction around. Resort is very small, often very few people in time we were there. Beach was nicest part. Staff was mostly friendly but limited on English (I’m limited on my Spanish). So it was very tough to communicate. Food options were extremely limited, 2 restaurants with limited hours. Food quality was poor at best. Everything was reminiscent of my elementary school cafeteria but slightly worse. Nothing was as expected, OJ wasn’t tasting like OJ, bacon wasn’t tasting like bacon. Drinks were all cheapest off brand you could find. They could not even make a margarita, they use squirt soda to mix most everything. I tried some name brand scotch whisky on ice, it didn’t taste right, either mixed with something else or something much cheaper was poured in that bottle, in my opinion. We are not picky people just looking to relax and have some decent food/drink. I was very nearly injured entering the pool, slipping on slick tile. Overall we left a week long trip after on 2 days, they charged us 4 days as a penalty. Safe to say we’ll never be back.

Old and cheap - ish This is a 2.5 star, get what you pay for resort. Staff was very friendly. Food is below average, but again … what you pay for. Hotel is older and run down, AC in the rooms was working well _. As a beer drinker, we had to buy a cooler and beers from the grocery store up the street. They had large bottles of beer, which were poured into pitcher and held in a cooler. They would bring good tequila, if requested $$. No drinks in the room, liquor service was cut off at 1am. Not much night life, had a disco and some karaoke, but fairly quiet for the most part. This hotel seems to be frequented by locals, not much atmosphere. The Hilton next door seemed much livelier. If you venture across the street to the steakhouse for dinner and drink, make sure you have lots of money_ 1 Pacifico and vodka/ water was $53 USD. Dinner and drinks will run you $500 USD End of the day, if there’s good company, you’ll have a good time, but this is a bare bone hotel.
