Worn, unkempt and strong chemical smells This hotel should not be part of the Best Western Plus portfolio. It is run down, dirty, smells very strongly of bug spray and bleach. Hallway carpets are ripped and worn, one of the two elevators is out of service, there is an adjoining room door that doesn't look fully closed but is anchored by a series of screws at the bottom. I can't begin to understand why some folks are rating this at 5 stars, nor how the Best Western brand would allow their image to be associated with such low quality.

This hotel is in need of some serious TLC and a facelift! The hotel is tucked away on a side street near the airport, but the signage is poor for those using visual aids trying to find it. Other hotels nearby have tall signs that are clearly visible, but for some reason, this BW location does not. The hotel is in serious need of a makeover/upgrade. The colors are dark and uninviting. The hallway carpet is well-worn. One of the two elevators was out of service. The carpet in my room was frayed in some spots. The electrical outlets were old and loose. There was no USB charging port. Luckily I had a plug adaptor to charge my phone, but the outlets in the room were so loose that it took hours for my device to fully charge. My key card did not work for the side entrance, which was a hassle when coming in at 2am, parking in the back of the hotel and having to walk all the way to the front because I could enter on the side. It never worked for that entrance the during the entirety of my 4 day stay. Sometimes, it would take several insertions of the key card into my hotel room door before the door unlocked. As Richmond was the last stop on my vacation, I was looking forward taking advantage of the on-site laundry facilities to wash my clothes before I flew back home to the West Coast. However, the dryer on my floor was out of service, so I had to lug my laundry to another floor. The hot water worked fine except on Saturday morning when the shower water was barely lukewarm. Perhaps the staff was doing a lot of laundry at that time, but that was still a bit annoying. The landscaping for what little greenery there is seems to be lacking. The shrubs and bushes along the side of the hotel shared the same space with weeds. The grass near the pool was tall and in need of a cut. Security seems to be non existent. The hotel's front doors seem to stay open 24/7, allowing anyone to walk in. One time, I came in extremely late (2:30am), and, not being able to access the side entrance because of my key card, walked through the front door. The person "working" the front desk was engrossed watching something on their phone and never even bothered to look up as I walked past toward the elevator. The most negative thing I experienced was seeing what looked like mold spores growing in the vents of the AC unit. The only reason I noticed it is because the unit is next to the desk in my room, and one night I sat at that table to eat my dinner. That is when I happened to my left to look out of the window and i glanced down at the vents, seeing what looked like spores. On the positive side, the AC was ice cold (a welcome treat given that RIchmond was super hot and humid last week), the TV had a good selection of channel offerings, and the hotel shuttle van driver was really nice and friendly.

Best Western Hotel Stole My Deposit: “A Tale of Disregard and Disappointment" I am writing this review with a sense of deep disappointment. I had the misfortune of dealing with Best Western Hotel's customer service, or rather, the lack thereof. My issue began with an innocent error, an incorrect reservation made due to a faulty Booking.com algorithm misdirection. I immediately called the hotel and rectified the mistake, expecting a swift resolution from Best Western. However, a series of ignored communications and a blatant disregard for my refund request followed. It is disheartening to see such a well-known establishment hold onto a customer's payment, even when the error was not the customer's fault. The $150 that Best Western has chosen to retain may not seem significant to a large corporation, but it is a matter of principle and respect for the customer. The silence from Best Western's end speaks volumes about their approach to customer service. Customer satisfaction is not a priority for them. Instead, they seem to be more interested in holding onto a customer's hard-earned money. I am left with no choice but to voice my dissatisfaction publicly. I hope that potential customers will read this review and think twice before choosing Best Western. It is not just about the money, but the principle. No customer should be treated with such disregard. In conclusion, I am a patron that Best Western has permanently lost. I hope that my experience serves as a wake-up call for them to improve their customer service. Until then, I advise potential customers to tread carefully. A Disappointed Customer

Not worthy of the Best Western name Check in was not appropriate - the front desk clerk asked my name and gave me keys. He didn't check my ID or credit card, and I didn't sign anything. He was in a rush to get back to his telephone call. The lady who shoulv've been in the breakfast area stood outside of the area, talking to a man, the whole time we were there. Breakfast was served until 9:30, but apparently if you get there just after 9 like we did, you're out of luck on getting home fries. I asked her, and she said it would take too long to make more. Maybe if she concentrated on her job, they would've been there until 9:30?? Lastly, the shower leaked under the wall into the bedroom? No employee noticed this? I don't think we'll stay here again...
