Perfect Stay Loved it. So pretty and supply everything you’d need from a hotel. Very clean as well, the beach view was gorgeous and staff are so friendly. Sad I didn’t even get to use all the facilities like the gym or jacuzzi because there’s so much to do and there’s so much around it. I would definitely stay there again next time I’m in Santa Monica

Pleasant Stay with Some Minor Glitches Had a pleasant stay. Pros: Location, swimming pool and hot tub, effective climate control in room, late checkout request accommodated Cons: Operation of electronic key on my iPhone (Sonder widget) was inconsistent (had to punch in code instead), unable to make water hot enough in one of the showers, some of the shampoo and conditioner dispensers were hard to operate, electronic gear in room emitted a distracting flashing light at night

The Beacon is the best Amazing as always! The Beacon shines in Santa Monica and is perfect for the family getaway. Every member of the staff was courteous, attentive, and genuinely eager to ensure that the stay was flawless. Whether it was providing local recommendations, accommodating special requests, or simply greeting me with a warm smile, their dedication to guest satisfaction was evident in every interaction

Not a better way to stay. Sadly, I write a negative review. I don’t do it often and don’t like doing it because I know how hard businesses work to do well. The Sonder Beacon Hotel has a great location, and the rooms have been nicely updated, but they did not address the systemic problems with the hotel. The form is ahead of function. There is indeed a hot water problem in this hotel. You must run the hot water for about 10 minutes before you get any warm water, even longer to get hot water, and even longer if you are early in the morning; this is a problem that the hotel is well aware of, but doesn’t bother to make any mention of when booking. I believe they are struggling to fix it but need to enlist the help of some experts. The other issue, which is equally disheartening and frustrating, is the noise situation. We stayed a Thursday through to a Tuesday; the noise progressively worsened each of the evenings of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Our room was adjacent to the outdoor portion of the restaurant, roughly speaking equal to staying in a tent in the middle of a busy restaurant and bar. The patrons of the restaurant and bar are simply enjoying themselves and being loud and boisterous; once again, the hotel knows about this problem, and they most generously provided earplugs in the nightstand drawer. When you rent a hotel room, there is a fundamental expectation of quiet enjoyment of the room; this is not the case. I will say that the restaurant bar shuts down quite promptly at 11 pm or 12 am. The front desk staff are left in a challenging situation; to their credit, they do their best. The slogan of Sonder Hotels is “a better way to stay,” but it is, at best, a mistruth. There are many hotels in the vicinity, but for a few more dollars would provide what your expectations would be of a hotel. Again, I want to make it clear that this is a nice hotel, and it has lots of potential, but the hotel management is missing the mark on basic hotel fundamentals.

Great Location, Super Property Excellent location, and very nice room and facilities. Great rooftop bar, cool pool/lounge courtyard. Room was a good size, with nice bathroom. Best feature - location! You can see the pier, sunsets and quick walk to SM Promenade and of Santa Monica.
