Newer again! Scammers! Terrible terrible please do not stay there they do anything we can to keep your deposit the front desk clerk will checking out the same day I checked in a couple hours later told me he needs to go inside my room 20 minutes later after waiting at the front desk I gonna gonna room door I said what’s taking so long he said oh I’ll be through in a couple minutes I asked him what he was doing because I made a video tape of recording the room when I walked out because the hotel 20 minutes later to find out the guy says we’re not returning your deposit because of drug paraphernalia being left in the room I asked what drugs I don’t do drugs he said you’re gonna have to call back and speak with the manager tomorrow this place is a scam do not give them your credit card! Very dirty. Hotel was very dirty had to be moved to another room after a roach was found. Staff was nice but that’s it. Looks nothing like the photos. Mattresses were stained and old as well as the box springs. Beds are supposed to be queen but are full sized. There was Mold in the shower and there was a botched repair to the door on the bathroom. Carpets are stained dirty and burnt.( the room was supposed to be nonsmoking) the pull out chair for the desk looks like they got it from the dump it’s so filthy. No phone in the room. The ac wasn’t very cold especially for being in Santa Paula. I had many more pictures but was only allowed to use 10. The hotel should really update the photos.

Roach Motel This is the worst motel that I can ever remember staying at. It's old, our room smelled bad, the drapes wouldn't shut all the way (we were on the ground floor), the paint was coming off the shower walls, no ice machine, at least some of the staff did not speak English, and worst of all...we had an unwanted guest in our bed...a live roach! I reported the roach to the front desk and the lady told me she would pass that on to the manager (Mitul Patel) and that he would give us a discount...but that never happened. We were not even offered clean sheets. I would never stay at this place again and recommend that you don't either.

Old Hotel Folks, my review doesn't differ much from the others on file. This hotel is an old hotel - probably 20+ years that has seen little in the form of renovations. Why stay here? It could almost be said because it's the only hotel in town. Not quite true as there are two other older hotels in the center of town that were most likely built around the early 1900 to 1930's. While one of those hotels show nice from the outside, the inside shows its wear and tear after 100 years. As for Ocean Gate, the front desk clerk -Arsenio, was one of the most polite individuals I had recently met and greeted us with a big smile and friendly smile. The rooms were large, but the full bed was small for two people. Carpets are old. Paint is blistering in the bathrooms. The lighting in terrible throughout. But again, their price for night is very good if one has business in Santa Paula and does not want to drive in from Ventura or Fillmore.

grim The whole place was scruffy. The room was dirty and the carpets and walls in the corridors were stained and greasy. The towels and bedlinen were grubby. 'Breakfast' was a muffin. Couldn't wait to get away.
